The Shop Drink Eat on C Street campaign is in Full Swing, Participate to Win a Free Stanley Tumbler
We're happy to announce the kick off of Galt's Shop, Drink, and Eat on C Street campaign that encourages everyone's ongoing support of local businesses in the C Street construction zone.
It's so easy to participate. As you shop businesses in the C Street construction zone (please see the map), save 15 receipts as proof of purchase and submit those receipts to the Galt Chamber of Commerce to receive a free custom tote bag. Our Chamber of Commerce is open Monday through Friday from 10 am to 2 pm, located at 400 4th St #130. Then, you'll be entered into a drawing for a custom Shop, Drink, and Eat on C Street Stanley Drink Tumbler. Twenty (20) winners will be randomly drawn on December 11, 2024.
**Restrictions apply. Receipts for duplicate merchants cannot be from the same date. (e.g., multiple receipts from Save Mart must reflect different dates). Fifteen (15) receipts equal 1 entry for a chance to win a Stanley tumbler. **
Thank you to all our C Street businesses that will remain open for the duration of the C Street Enhancements Project. Remember that we have many access points all around the C Street Construction Zone for everyone to regularly travel safely and Shop, Drink, and Eat on C Street. We have fantastic businesses throughout our City and are grateful for everyone's continued patronage.

Work in Progress: C Street Project
During construction, please drive with caution, use alternate entrances when possible, and reach out to the project team with any questions and concerns
The C Street Project continues on the north side of C Street, and traffic will be reduced to one lane. Westbound traffic will remain open, while eastbound traffic will be diverted to 'A' Street.
This Phase 1 of work is expected to be completed in October. Know that:
- All businesses are open for business - shop your favorites on C Street, participate in our Shop, Drink, and Eat on C Street initiative and all around our city.
- Access to the Galt Plaza shopping center will be available via Civic Drive to the south and from the 'A' Street entrance next to Save Mart from the north.
- Throughout construction, north- and south-bound traffic will be able to travel through the S. Lincoln Way intersection, but please note that the stop light will flash red and may cause delays.
Phase 2 of this project's work will begin in October on the south side of C Street, and one lane of westbound traffic will remain open. Major construction during this phase is expected to be completed in December 2024, with additional minor finish work that will not require full lane closures anticipated through January 2025.
Thank you for your patience and cooperation during this important construction work. Learn more by clicking the button below that leads to C Street Project website.

A reminder that the pedestrian and bike pathway along Ripken Ave, from Marengo Rd to Carillion Blvd remains closed. This closure is essential for public safety during the installation of new sewer improvements in the vicinity. Various “no parking” areas will also be delineated along Ripken Ave from time to time, with “no parking” signs and barricades placed at least 48 hours in advance. The trail closure was effective as of August 12 and is anticipated to be complete by October 2024. We apologize for any inconvenience this causes. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this process.
For any inquiries or concerns, please feel free to reach out to Project Manager, Jonathan Keith, Goodfellow Bros., LLC, (916) 618-3061; jonathank@goodfellowbros.com

Get Ready for Goats!
Galt has entered into a contract to have goats graze various locations of the city in the coming weeks to clear vegetation to improve drainage. In the past, using goats for vegetation control has helped mitigate localized flooding during storm events, which improves public safety. Environmental restrictions in these more sensitive areas prevent the City from using other means to clear vegetation. The areas where goats will be placed include Dead Man Gulch, and other City-owned and maintained drainage areas.
|
Temporary electric fencing, as well as a “herder” with trailer and dogs will be on site to monitor and protect the goats in areas they will be clearing. While we highly encourage our citizens to observe the goats in action, please be aware of the electric fencing and do not allow children to approach/engage the working dogs or goats.
Volunteers Needed for Commissions & Committees
We're on the lookout for dedicated volunteers to make a positive impact on our city. Your involvement can shape the future of our community.
The City of Galt has long benefited from residents' involvement in many civic activities. One way that residents can be involved is by serving on one of the City's committees/commissions. Current vacancies include Galt Youth Commission Adult Mentor and Sacramento Environmental Commission (SEC) - outside agency.
Why volunteer? You can contribute to positive change in our city, be a voice for our community, gain valuable experience, and build connections.
