Recap of Workshop for Parks, Recreation, and Open Space Master Plan
An energetic and interested group of more than 30 people gathered at the evening workshop for the Parks, Recreation, and Open Space Master Plan on August 27. Current and past members of City Council, residents of all ages and backgrounds, staff from Parks & Recreation, and facilitators from RHAA Landscape Architecture + Planning were present. Together, they reviewed the inventory of our city’s system of 21 community parks, community/cultural facilities, and open spaces; learned of the state of projects such as the Chabolla Skate Park design and new water slide at the Gora Aquatic Center; and documented a wish list of improvements and future amenities such as splash pads, bike paths, sports leagues, special-interest activity groups, and play areas inclusive of those with an array of sensory differences.
“We want to continue this community dialogue of asking questions and getting more feedback when we hold neighborhood workshops later in September,” said Armando Solis, director of Parks & Recreation. “Measure Q resources enable us to improve our current system while laying the groundwork for future recreational needs that reflect Galt’s desire for better community engagement.”
We encourage Galt to get involved with our recreational offerings. One way to do that is by taking the Community Needs Survey available at this link. Learn more about the Parks Master Plan Update by reading here. And take a moment to see our current recreation classes & activities online.

Work in Progress: C Street Project
During construction, please drive with caution, use alternate entrances when possible, and reach out to the project team with any questions and concerns
The C Street Project is in full swing! It will continue on the north side of C Street, and traffic will be reduced to one lane. Westbound traffic will remain open, while eastbound traffic will be diverted to 'A' Street.
This Phase 1 of work is expected to be completed by this fall. Know that:
- All businesses are open for business - shop your favorites on C Street and all around our city.
- Access to the Galt Plaza shopping center will be available via Civic Drive to the south and from the 'A' Street entrance next to Savemart from the north.
- Throughout construction, north- and south-bound traffic will be able to travel through the S. Lincoln Way intersection, but please note that the stop light will flash red and may cause delays.
Phase 2 of this project's work will begin in the fall of 2024 on the south side of C Street, and one lane of westbound traffic will remain open. Major construction during this phase is expected to be completed in December 2024, with additional minor finish work that will not require full lane closures anticipated through January 2025.
Thank you for your patience and cooperation during this important construction work. Learn more by clicking the button below that leads to C Street Project website.

A reminder that the pedestrian and bike pathway along Ripken Ave, from Marengo Rd to Carillion Blvd remains closed. This closure is essential for public safety during the installation of new sewer improvements in the vicinity. Various “no parking” areas will also be delineated along Ripken Ave from time to time, with “no parking” signs and barricades placed at least 48 hours in advance. The trail closure was effective as of August 12 and is anticipated to be complete by October 2024.
We apologize for any inconvenience this causes. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this process.
