Starting next week, work will continue on the north side of C Street, and traffic will be reduced to one lane. Westbound traffic will remain open, while eastbound traffic will be diverted to 'A' Street. This phase of work is expected to be completed by this fall.
Here's what you need to know:
- All businesses will remain open – please support local businesses!
- Access to the Galt Plaza shopping center will be available via Civic Drive to the south and from the 'A' Street entrance next to Save Mart from the north.
- Throughout construction, north- and south-bound traffic will be able to travel through the S. Lincoln Way intersection, but please note that the stop light will flash red and may cause delays.
- The second phase of work will begin in the fall of 2024 on the south side of C Street, and one lane of westbound traffic will remain open. Major construction during this phase is expected to be completed in December 2024, with additional minor finish work that will not require full lane closures anticipated through January 2025.
- During construction, please drive with caution, encourage your customers and visitors to use alternate entrances when possible, and reach out to the project team with any questions.
Thank you for your patience and cooperation during the construction of this important project! Please visit the link below to be directed to the C Street Enhancements Project website.

We are excited to announce that the large dog park has been temporarily reopened, and all the new equipment has been installed. The renovation process is well underway, and park visitors can expect more upgrades in the coming weeks.
The small dog park is now closed for the installation of new equipment, and soon both parks will be intermittently closed for grass reseeding. Specific closure dates will be provided.
In anticipation of the grand reopening, the Kiwanis Club is planning a special event to celebrate the enhanced facilities. Stay tuned for more information on this exciting event.
Keep an eye out for further updates on the Monterey Dog Park renovation as we strive to create a more enjoyable space for all.

The pedestrian and bike pathway along Ripken Ave, from Marengo Rd to Carillion Blvd will be closed effective Monday, August 12.
This closure is essential for public safety during the installation of new sewer improvements in the vicinity. Various “no parking” areas will also be delineated along Ripken Ave from time to time, with “no parking” signs and barricades placed at least 48 hours in advance. The trail closure is active as of August 12, and is anticipated to be complete by October 2024.
We apologize for any inconvenience this causes. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this process.
For any inquiries or concerns, please feel free to reach out to: Project Manager: Jonathan Keith Goodfellow Bros., LLC Mobile: (916)618-3061 Email: jonathank@goodfellowbros.com

Congratulations to John Griffin, our new Public Works Director!
We are excited to announce that John Griffin has been promoted to the Director of Public Works!
John brings nearly 30 years of civil engineering experience and a wealth of knowledge from the public and private sectors, with 25 years in municipal civil engineering. He is a licensed engineer and a proud California State University, Sacramento graduate.
His journey with the City of Galt began in 2000 as an Assistant Engineer. He spent seven years in the engineering department and later returned to the City in 2022 as the Deputy Director of Public Works and City Engineer.
John’s commitment to leading and mentoring our engineering team, combined with his extensive experience, positions him as a valuable leader within our organization.
Fun facts: John is known for starting staff meetings with dad jokes – the cornier, the better! He has lived in Galt for over 23 years and raised his two children, Madii (26) and Isaiah (23), here in our community.
Join us in welcoming John Griffin to his new role. We are excited for the future and all the great work ahead!
