The Federal Railroad Administration recently notified the City of minor improvements needed at three Galt railroad crossings. These improvements are necessary for the City to maintain the Quiet Zone designation along the Union Pacific railroad in Galt.
The City has hired a contractor and a railroad approved flagging contractor to perform the median work required by the Federal Railroad Administration. The City has submitted details of the work to the Union Pacific Railroad and is currently awaiting permit approval from Union Pacific to perform the work in Union Pacific’s right of way.
Pending Union Pacific’s permit approval and favorable weather conditions, the work is anticipated to require a few days to complete. However, the current extended weather forecast will likely result in delay of the work.
The City has requested the Federal Railroad Administration to perform its required follow-up inspection as soon as possible after the work is completed.
We apologize for any inconvenience this causes to our residents.

Warner Bros. Pictures was in Galt last weekend filming for their upcoming movie! It is such an honor to have our small town showcased as part of this project. We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all our amazing Galt residents for your patience and understanding. Special appreciation goes out to our dedicated Galt Police Officers for keeping everything running smoothly throughout the day and into the late evening. Your commitment to this project doesn't go unnoticed! And let's not forget our hardworking Public Works and Parks & Recreation staff for their help throughout the entire process. Your efforts are truly appreciated!

Curious to see behind-the-scenes footage? to watch the video coverage of this incredible event:
The Saturday Market has been canceled this weekend due to anticipated inclement weather including heavy rain, strong winds, and the threat of thunderstorms. Organizers have made this decision with the safety and well-being of attendees, vendors, and staff in mind.
While the cancellation may disappoint many, organizers emphasize that safety is their utmost priority. They encourage everyone to mark their calendars for the next market day on April 6, and assure the community that they look forward to welcoming everyone back for a vibrant and enjoyable event.

Demonstrating commitment to community support and gratitude, Sacramento County Supervisor Pat Hume has generously offered to sponsor a Military Banner for a local resident. The Galt Military Banner Program recognizes those currently serving or those who have served in the United States Armed Forces with banners displayed along portions of Lincoln Avenue and C Street in Old Town Galt.
To apply for this sponsorship opportunity, the applicant or service person must be a resident within the Galt Joint Union High School District boundaries. We urge all eligible individuals to consider participating in this initiative, whether to honor their own service or that of a loved one.
Please review the Program Policy and Guidelines, then submit your completed application to clerk@cityofgalt.org. The submission deadline is March 14, 2024, at 5:00 pm, for installation in April. Our City Clerk's office will review all applications, and the selection of the sponsored applicant will be conducted at random.
