OC Health Care Agency Urges Preventative Measures
With COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations surging in Orange County, the OC Health Agency strongly urges residents and visitors to strictly follow proper masking, proper hand hygiene, physical distancing, and other non-medical preventative measures to minimize further spread of this highly transmissible variant.
Between January 6 and January 12, the seven-day average COVID-19 case rate in Orange County jumped from 94 to 183 per 100,000 people, and the average number of daily COVID-19 cases rose from 3,031 to 5,896. The positivity rate increased from 19.1 to 25.8 percent, hospitalizations from 724 to 1,071, and ICU admissions from 107 to 154 per day.
During the current surge, Orange County residents and visitors are advised to:
- Get fully vaccinated and boosted to maximize your immunity against COVID-19.
- Wear a well-fitting mask as an added layer of protection against viruses that can spread through respiratory droplets. The State’s indoor masking mandate for everyone regardless of vaccination status has been extended until February 15, 2022.
- Keep a safe distance from others outside of your household to avoid close contact with people who may be unvaccinated or asymptomatic.
- If you recently attended a high-risk event, traveled, or came into close contact with someone who has COVID-19, self-monitor for symptoms and got tested.
- Stay home, follow isolation guidance, and get tested if you are sick.

Redistrict Fullerton
The Fullerton City Council created the seven-person Redistricting Advisory Commission to represent the Fullerton community and help facilitate the current redistricting process. The City of Fullerton moved to district-based City Council Member elections in 2016, and like other districted cities, must redraw district boundaries following each decennial census. Fullerton will use data from the 2020 Census to redraw district lines to reflect how local populations have changed.
The Commission invites members of the Fullerton community to participate in the redistricting process to help draw district lines that respect neighborhoods, communities of interest, and geographical elements. The City invites residents to share feedback on areas or communities of interest, submit draft district maps and share opinions of draft maps, once available. The City will soon offer mapping tools for public use. Community members may also email comments about the process to districtelections@cityoffullerton.com.
The City has created a redistricting webpage, where residents can find background on the redistricting process, a calendar of upcoming meetings, information on how to provide public comment, and more. Throughout the redistricting process, the City will update the website to include additional details on future public hearings, mapping tools, FAQs, etc.

There were 13 calls for service of which the Fullerton Police Department deployed 7 Naloxone - Narcan doses which is an opioid antagonist that rapidly reverses an opioid overdose. The average age of the patients was 24 years old. The youngest is 17 years old and the oldest at 30 years old. There were twice as many males to female cases.
