COVID-19 Updates
State of California—Health and Human Services Agency California Department of Public Health
Masks are required for all individuals in all indoor public settings, regardless of vaccination status from December 15, 2021 through January 15, 2022 (surgical masks or higher-level respirators are recommended).
The COVID-19 vaccines remain effective in preventing serious disease, hospitalization, and death from the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Unvaccinated persons are more likely to get infected and spread the virus which is transmitted through the air and concentrates indoors. To ensure that we collectively protect the health and well-being of all Californians; keep schools open for in-person instruction; and allow California's economy to remain open and thrive, the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) is requiring masks to be worn in all indoor public settings, irrespective of vaccine status, for the next four weeks (December 15, 2021 through January 15, 2022).This new measure brings an added layer of mitigation as the Omicron variant, a Variant of Concern as labeled by the World Health Organization, is detected across California, the United States, and the world and is likely to spread more easily than the original SARS-CoV-2 virus and the Delta variant.

City of Fullerton Updates
Trash Services to Resume in Fullerton
The City of Fullerton is pleased to announce that the strike affecting Republic Services trash collection service has concluded. As a result, trash collection service throughout Fullerton will resume in full beginning today Friday, December 17, 2021.
All residential customers will resume their normal pickup schedule beginning Monday, December 20. Bulky-item collection services will resume Monday, December 20.
The City is currently working on providing credits to all residential customers whose service was disrupted during this work stoppage. These credits will require some time to process administratively and will be reflected on a future utility bill. The City will provide further public information in the near future of when customers can expect those credits.
Additionally, the City will work with Republic Services to see that commercial/multi-family/industrial customer credits will be provided.
The City of Fullerton has incurred a variety of costs in responding to the trash strike. As such, the City will seek reimbursement for these costs as appropriate from Republic Services.
Until such time as a full cycle of residential trash collection has been completed citywide, the City and Republic Services will provide two temporary trash disposal drop-off locations in the city:
- Independence Park (801 W. Valencia Dr.)
- Fullerton Sports Complex (560 E. Silver Pine St.)
These two locations will be open to the public for disposal from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for Fullerton residents and businesses needing to dispose of normal refuse. No bulky waste items or hazardous waste materials will be accepted at these locations.

Redistrict Fullerton
The Fullerton City Council created the seven-person Redistricting Advisory Commission to represent the Fullerton community and help facilitate the current redistricting process. The City of Fullerton moved to district-based City Council Member elections in 2016, and like other districted cities, must redraw district boundaries following each decennial census. Fullerton will use data from the 2020 Census to redraw district lines to reflect how local populations have changed.
The Commission invites members of the Fullerton community to participate in the redistricting process to help draw district lines that respect neighborhoods, communities of interest, and geographical elements. The City invites residents to share feedback on neighborhoods or communities of interest, submit draft district maps and share opinions of draft maps, once available. The City will soon offer mapping tools for public use. Community members may also email comments about the process to districtelections@cityoffullerton.com.
The City has created a redistricting webpage, where residents can find background on the redistricting process, a calendar of upcoming meetings, information on how to provide public comment, and more. Throughout the redistricting process, the City will update the website to include additional details on future public hearings, mapping tools, FAQs, etc.

Why do we take water quality samples?
The City of Fullerton Water Division routinely samples the City’s water to ensure it meets federal and state water quality regulations and requirements. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has set national primary and secondary drinking water regulations for contaminants such as Coliform Bacteria, Lead, and Nitrate. The State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB) has set statewide standards for contaminants like Per- and Polyfluoroalkly Substances (PFAS), that do not currently have federal regulations. Depending on the type of contaminant, monitoring samples can be taken as often as weekly, monthly, or even yearly. Water quality monitoring is performed on groundwater, import water, and the water in the distribution water mains. Groundwater monitoring results are used to determine if treatment such as blending or filtration is needed to treat the groundwater to remain at or above the water quality regulations. The City produces the results of the required monitoring in the Annual Water Quality Report. This water quality report is available on the City of Fullerton website at www.cityoffullerton.com/2021CCR.
