City of Fullerton Updates
Fullerton Launces Streaming Channels on Roku, Amazon Fire TV, and Apple TV
In an effort to provide more access to City information, the City of Fullerton has launched channels on Roku, Amazon Fire TV, and Apple TV. Now, those who do not have cable television, or simply prefer to stream content via OTT devices, have the option to tune in to Fullerton TV (FTV).
All three channels will appear in full high definition (HD), giving the public the ability to watch video content live. Video content available will include commission meetings, city events, city news, public meetings, health updates, public service announcements, and other videos that will inform, educate, and instruct residents, businesses, and visitors on government processes.
To access FTV on any three streaming platforms, simply open your device’s home screen and search for “Fullerton TV” and down load the channel.
FTV is still available on Spectrum channel 3, AT&T U-verse channel 99, and streaming live in HD on the city’s website, cityoffullerton.com. In addition, city council meetings, special events, and public service announcements are available on the City's YouTube channel.
City to Begin RV Ordinance Enforcement
In order to improve the quality of the community and preserve safety in the City of Fullerton, the City Council has approved a parking prohibition of all recreational vehicles, as defined, on all city streets and private roadways in Fullerton unless a permit has been issued by the Fullerton Police Department (8.46.030 FMC). This parking ordinance goes into effect of August 23, 2021. For further information on the ordinance visit our page at www.cityoffullerton.com/rvpermit
Fullerton to Pay Tribute to Tommy Lasorda's Legacy
Fullerton Mayor Bruce Whitaker and Tollo Mayor Angelo Radica have signed a letter of intent to become Sister Cities in honor of Tommy Lasorda and his parents, Sabatino and Carmella Lasorda. Lasorda’s father, Sabatino Lasorda, was an Italian immigrant hailing from Tollo who came to the United States and raised Lasorda along with his four brothers.
Tommy Lasorda, the Hall of Famer who managed the Los Angeles Dodgers for 20 seasons and led them to two World Series titles, will be recognized by his hometown in a day of celebration on his birthday. The inaugural Tommy Lasorda Day will take place Wednesday, September 22, 2021.
- Virtual signing ceremony at Fullerton City Hall with Tollo, Italy delegation.
- The planting of an Italian olive tree by the Fullerton Sister City Association next to the magnolia, flowering cherry, and black pine trees, which symbolize Fullerton's relationships with each of our sister cities (Morelia, Mexico; Fukui, Japan; and Yongin, South Korea).
- Press conference at Amerige Park Baseball Field proclaiming September 22nd Tommy Lasorda Day.
- Screening of the National Italian American Film Forum Award-winning Italian American Baseball Family documentary, featuring Tommy Lasorda. Film director Roberto Angotti will be present and has been instrumental in the City of Fullerton to pay tribute to Dodger legend and forming the sister city relationship with Tollo, Italy.
“The City of Fullerton celebrates Tommy Lasorda, a 68-year resident of southwest Fullerton; a baseball ambassador of worldwide renown; a notable celebrity and highly recognizable personality; Member of the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame who earlier this year, in his own words ‘went to meet the big Dodger in the sky,’” said Mayor Bruce Whitaker.
Former and current MLB front office personnel, managers, coaches, and players close to the Lasorda family have been invited to join the festivities. San Diego Hall of Fame Champions Sports Museum official Hall of Fame artist Christopher Paluso will be on hand to sign his limited-edition Tommy Lasorda commemorative posters.
For further information please contact the City Council Office at 714-738-6311. The public will be encouraged to participate in this event. More event details to come as the date of the event nears.
