Enjoy an evening of live music at the Summer Concert Series, then stay for a FREE America 250 Drone Show over Central Park. Presented by the City of Fremont and Fremont Bank, this special aerial light show celebrates America’s 250th Anniversary.

Celebrate Independence Day at Fremont’s annual Fourth of July Parade and After Party. Enjoy a morning parade followed by entertainment, activities, food, and community fun at the Downtown Event Center.

All Fireworks are banned in the City of Fremont
As a reminder, all fireworks are banned in the City of Fremont. This ban includes the sale, possession, and use of all fireworks within the city of Fremont. Learn more about the ban, fines, and how to report.
Join us for the Fremont 4th of July Parade, presented by the Fremont 4th of July Parade non-profit on July 4, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. The Parade starts at Fremont Main Library and ends at Fremont City Hall in Downtown Fremont.
And the celebration doesn’t stop when the parade ends! Head over to the Fremont Parade After Party, hosted by the Fremont Education Foundation, from 11:00 am to 1:30 pm at the Downtown Event Center and Plaza, 3500 Capitol Ave. The Event Center lobby will be open for a cooling respite.

Appointment slots for the upcoming November 3, 2026, General Election nomination period are now open. The official nomination period begins on Monday, July 13, 2026, and closes on Friday, August 7, 2026.
All prospective candidates are required to schedule an in person appointment with the City Clerk’s Office to receive or file nomination papers. Before an appointment can be set, the City Clerk’s Office will verify your district information with the Alameda County Registrar of Voters based on your residential address.

 Construction along Fremont Boulevard in the Centerville District.
Construction of this $11.5 million grant-funded project along portions of Thornton Avenue, Fremont Boulevard, and Peralta Boulevard in the Centerville area (former State Route 84) is heading into the final months, with completion scheduled for the end of August. Major construction milestones remaining include completion of improvements at the Fremont Blvd. and Thornton Ave. intersection, new traffic signal improvements along Thornton Avenue, installation of flashing beacons on Fremont Boulevard, and repaving and striping on Thornton Avenue, Fremont Boulevard and Peralta Boulevard. The City has expanded our online permitting tools with the launch of the new Residential Portal on OpenCounter. This easy-to-use tool is designed to help Fremont residents and developers navigate the permitting process for their construction project and estimate fees before applying.
While OpenCounter already hosts the City’s Business Portal and Zoning Check tools to support those wanting to start a new business and those searching for suitable locations for their next project, the Residential Portal is designed specifically with residents in mind.
The Residential Portal offers the following:
- a permit overview and fee estimates for single-family home construction projects and the construction of accessory dwelling units (ADUs),
- a high-level overview of the steps needed to take a project from concept to building permit,
- a helpful snapshot of City requirements, and
- intuitive fillable prompts and step-by-step instructions.
Whether adding an ADU or planning a home renovation, applicants are encouraged to use the Residential Portal early in the planning process. It’s a simple way to plan construction projects and understand the process before moving forward.
Starting July 1, 2026, the City of Fremont’s minimum wage will increase to $18.05 per hour. Employers are required to pay at least the minimum wage for all hours worked to hourly employees who perform work within the geographic boundaries of the City of Fremont. Employers are also required to post the official City of Fremont Wage Bulletin in the top five languages spoken in the city in a conspicuous place at each work site. The Official Bulletins, including translated versions, are available for download on the City’s Minimum Wage webpage. To avoid a reduction in the valuable services they provide to the community, the minimum wage ordinance exempts employees of non-profit corporations. Questions can be directed to minwage@fremont.gov.

This is a reminder that starting July 1, a new StopWaste Regulatory Fee will appear on garbage bills in Alameda County, including Fremont. The StopWaste Regulatory Fee is a small fee added to garbage bills to help fund required environmental programs to divert compostable and recyclable materials. For service at single-family homes, the new fee will add 30 cents per month to the garbage bill. For service at multifamily and commercial properties, the monthly fee will be the weekly number of cubic yards of garbage service x $1.10 per cubic yard. For multifamily properties, the fee will most likely be divided among residents. Residents can reach out to their property manager for specific fee information.
Since the State provides limited funds to carry out this work, the new fee allows StopWaste to recover the cost of implementing these programs on behalf of Alameda County jurisdictions.

The Alameda County Mosquito Abatement District (ACMAD) has identified one dead bird that tested positive for West Nile virus on Deep Creek Road between Emilia Lane and Nancy Place. Residents may notice ACMAD staff working in the area and deploying additional mosquito traps. ACMAD will also conduct enhanced surveillance and mosquito control treatments in locations with known standing water.
Residents are encouraged to inspect their properties for standing water and eliminate any sources whenever possible. Mosquitoes require standing water to complete their life cycle and develop into flying adults.
