"The City of Fremont’s long-standing immigration policy follows current State law. To the extent federal law enforcement officers carry out immigration enforcement, City funds and resources cannot be used in support of these efforts. Nor shall City employees obstruct or hinder federal officials’ enforcement actions. The City of Fremont recognizes the complexity of this issue and the impacts on those it may affect. We remain focused on the safety and well-being of our local community.
The Fremont Police Department Immigration Violations Policy (423) outlines expectations on this matter and can be found online HERE. The policy is in compliance with the State of California’s Truth Act and Trust Act and the police department continues to follow it. At this time, the City is not aware of enforcement activities occurring within Fremont."
If you or someone you know is looking for resources regarding their rights, please visit the Alameda County Immigration Legal and Education Partnership (ACILEP) website.
City of Fremont Statement on Immigration Policy
Throughout part of October and November, the City invites everyone to celebrate the diversity of our community and to recognize the importance of sharing our culture, customs, and traditions with those around us. A Diwali flag is on display from October 20 through November 20 at City Hall.

The City is providing this update on the waste collection service disruption that occurred this past July because of a labor dispute between Republic Services and the Teamsters. We know the situation was challenging for our residents and businesses, and we again thank you for your patience and understanding.
Bill Credit for Residential Customers
Most residential customers will see a credit of $15–$17 on their next Republic Services bill, which represents about 34% of a customer’s average monthly bill. This credit is for the two weeks of waste collection services that were impacted. Please note that the credit excludes disposal and material processing services, which were provided by another contractor. Republic Services is also reimbursing the City for costs associated with providing temporary services during the disruption.
Update for Multifamily Customers and Commercial Customers
(includes residents living in apartments and condos/townhomes with shared waste collection bins/dumpsters)
We are still working with Republic Services on a bill credit for multifamily customers and commercial customers. Since these services are more complex, it may take some time. We appreciate everyone’s patience and will provide additional information as it becomes available.
For questions about your bill, contact Republic Services directly at 510-657-3500.
Please note: The next City Council meeting will take place on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at City Hall, 3300 Capitol Ave.

On October 16, the City joined The Pacific Companies and Maracor Development in celebrating the grand opening of Osgood Family Apartments, a brand-new affordable housing property located at 41829 and 41911 Osgood Road in Fremont.
The opening of Osgood Family Apartments represents a major step in the City’s commitment to increasing affordable housing. The property provides 210 affordable homes for individuals and families.
Key property features include:
- Strategic Location: Its central location places residents close to existing transit and the future Irvington BART Station, which remains a near-term priority for the area. This location will help foster a connected community and directly support the City’s transit-oriented development goals.
- Innovation: The property showcases an innovative approach using modular construction—factory-built components that speed up project completion and increase efficiency.
- Sustainability: Features include a solar-ready design, EV chargers, and an energy-efficient heat pump system that provides both heating and cooling.
The City extends a warm welcome home to all residents of Osgood Family Apartments and thanks everyone who made this community possible!
