California’s Earthquake Brace + Bolt (EBB) grant program is now offering eligible homeowners up to $3,000 toward a residential seismic retrofit. This grant program aims to help homeowners lessen the potential for damage to their homes during an earthquake by "bracing" the crawl space, when necessary, and "bolting" the foundation to the frame. Only raised-foundation wood-framed homes built before 1980 qualify for the program. For income-eligible homeowners, a supplemental grant above $3,000 may be available.
New this year, the Earthquake Brace + Bolt program is now available to non-owner-occupied homes (rental properties). Property owners can submit up to five qualifying properties for consideration.
Learn more, see if you qualify, and then register.
Act now because the deadline to register is October 1, 2025!
About the EBB program: The program was established by the California Residential Mitigation Program (CRMP). CRMP was established in 2011 to help Californians strengthen their homes against damage from earthquakes. CRMP is a joint powers authority created by the California Earthquake Authority (CEA) and the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES).
