The City is excited to participate in National Coastal Cleanup Day again this year on Saturday, September 20 from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. We’ll be hosting various volunteer cleanup events throughout Fremont to keep our local creeks and waterways free from litter and debris.
Mark your calendar for Wednesday, August 20 at 6:00 am. Registration for our cleanup events will open at this time, and spots can fill up quickly. Registration will be available by visiting our webpage. To receive registration information by email, sign up for our interest list.
Join us to make a significant impact! By reducing waste and protecting our natural resources, we can make a real difference. Last year, 247 volunteers collected 920 pounds of trash, 300 pounds of recyclables, and 180 pounds of compost. Let's make this year's "trash talk" even more impressive!
The City’s Aging and Family Services Division Tri-Cities Senior Peer Counseling Program (SPC) is seeking compassionate volunteers to provide one-on-one emotional support to older adults in our community who may be experiencing loneliness, grief, isolation, or major life transitions. Trained older adults, who understand the challenges of aging, provide counseling and emotional support both in the home or in our counseling offices. SPC Program serves seniors facing challenges such as grief and loss, life transitions, family conflict, depression and anxiety, and physical changes. The SPC program is supervised by a trained counselor who reports to the Clinical Supervisor. If you are at least 50 years old and can participate in a 36-hour training this fall, visit our website to learn more.
Fremont is home to several farmers markets that bring together fresh food, local vendors, and a welcoming community environment. Every Thursday, the Kaiser Permanente Farmers Market on Paseo Padre Parkway offers a colorful mix of organic produce, snacks, and health-focused treats. Every Saturdays the Niles Farmers Market has fresh flowers, baked goods, and live music filling the historic district with charm. On Sundays, head to the Irvington Farmers Market for a cozy, neighborhood feel with seasonal fruits, handmade goods, and friendly local faces. Each market offers a unique experience while supporting small farms and local artisans. Whether you're shopping for ingredients or just enjoying the atmosphere, there's plenty of fun to be had in Fremont!
