City of Fremont offices will be closed Friday, July 4 in observance of Independence Day. This closure will not affect police and fire services, except for the Fremont Police Department’s front desk which will also be closed. City offices and FPD’s front desk will reopen Monday, July 7, for regular business hours.
On June 30, City Manager Karena Shackelford shared a comprehensive update with the community about the City of Fremont’s finances following the adoption of our $392.4 million Operating Budget for Fiscal Year 2025/26, approved by the Fremont City Council on June 10.
July 8 Council Meeting at 7:00 pm
Attend next week’s City Council meeting on Tuesday, July 7, 2025, which begins at 7:00 pm at City Hall, 3300 Capitol Ave. Visit our Agenda Center for additional details. The complete meeting agenda will be posted later this week.
All fireworks are banned in the City of Fremont, including those labeled as “safe and sane.” This ban, in place since 1986, has helped reduce injuries, wildland fires, and structure fires caused by fireworks.
Fremont Police and Fremont Fire will be actively patrolling during peak times to monitor fireworks use and reduce fire risk, especially along the hillsides. Possession or use of illegal fireworks is a misdemeanor in California, punishable by fines ranging from $1,000 to $50,000 or by imprisonment in a state prison or county jail. In some cases, it may be charged as a felony. Parents can also be held liable for damages or injuries caused by their children.
Due to an anticipated high call volume during the holiday, please only dial 911 for a true or potential emergency. To report a non-emergency, please call (510) 790-6800, option 3.
From 4:00 pm on July 4 through 2:00 am on July 5, community members are encouraged to report illegal firework activities via the Fremont App. Reports with specific details such as address, description, and potential safety hazards will receive higher priority. For details on how to download the app and for more info please visit: fremontpolice.gov/fireworks

Get ready to make a difference this July for Plastic Free Month! This global movement unites people to reduce plastic waste and protect our environment. By avoiding single-use plastics for the month of July, you can help Fremont become a climate ready community.
To help you get started, take the Plastic Free July Challenge. Check out this list of simple actions you can take at home and when going out. Thank you for doing your part!
- Bring reusable bags or a backpack for all your shopping, not just groceries.
- Use a reusable water bottle.
- Refuse plastic straws or use reusable straws.
- Bring your own reusable utensils when eating out to avoid using plastic utensils. When ordering meals to eat at home, add a note that utensils are not needed.
