Guided by City Council’s priorities, Mayor Salwan addressed progress in bolstering Fremont’s economic development and financial stability, working towards the City’s homelessness response efforts, prioritizing the public safety of our community, and furthering the City’s environmental sustainability.
The free public event was hosted by the City of Fremont and the Fremont Chamber of Commerce and included the Chamber’s annual introduction and update by CEO of the Fremont Chamber of Commerce Cindy Bonior.

All fireworks are banned in the City of Fremont, including those labeled as “safe and sane.” This ban, in place since 1986, has helped reduce injuries, wildland fires, and structure fires caused by fireworks.
Fremont Police and Fremont Fire will be actively patrolling during peak times to monitor fireworks use and reduce fire risk, especially along the hillsides. Possession or use of illegal fireworks is a misdemeanor in California, punishable by fines ranging from $1,000 to $50,000 or by imprisonment in a state prison or county jail. In some cases, it may be charged as a felony. Parents can also be held liable for damages or injuries caused by their children.
Due to an anticipated high call volume during the holiday, please only dial 911 for a true or potential emergency. To report a non-emergency, please call (510) 790-6800, option 3.
From 4:00 pm on July 4 through 2:00 am on July 5, community members are encouraged to report illegal firework activities via the Fremont App. Reports with specific details such as address, description, and potential safety hazards will receive higher priority. For details on how to download the app and for more info please visit: fremontpolice.gov/fireworks
Here are 5 simple ways to protect your furry family members:
- Plan ahead: Walk and exercise pets early before festivities begin.
- Keep them secure: Check fences, doors, and other escape routes.
- Update Identification: Make sure collars, tags, and microchip info are current.
- Minimize noise: Use a fan, TV, or white noise to help mask sounds.
- Settle in: Stay close if you can — your calm presence helps more than you know.
As the weather becomes warmer, individuals experiencing homelessness need cooler clothing and other necessities.
The City continues its partnership with Bay Area Community Services (BACS) to ask the community to donate items for our unhoused neighbors. The items will be distributed through City Homeless Services Programs, such as Housing Resource Center and the Safe Parking Program, and shared with BACS to ensure items get in the hands of those who need them most as quickly as possible.
A Homeless Services Needs List is available for those who would like to donate items. All clothing items should be new and in adult sizes from small to XXXL. Drop off locations and times are included on the list to make donating more convenient. If you have questions, please call the Human Services Department at 510-574-2050 or by email.
