In recognition of Fair Housing Month this April, the City would like to highlight our partnership with Project Sentinel and the landlord, tenant, and fair housing services they provide here in Fremont. Landlords and tenants can access a range of services, including advocacy, counseling, and dispute resolution for issues related to security deposits, repairs, entry rights, evictions, retaliation, and rent increases. Assistance is also available for investigating housing discrimination complaints, which involve unfair treatment based on protected characteristics like race, religion, gender, disability, and sexual orientation.
If you or someone you know is in need of these services, contact: Fremont Fair Housing & Landlord-Tenant Services 39155 Liberty St., Suite D440, Fremont 510-574-2270 Email
Kicking off Autism Awareness Month, nonprofit foundation Joshua’s Gift and Fremont Police Department (FPD) have launched CODE JOSHUA. This new alert system and registry assists first responders when managing calls involving individuals with autism and intellectual developmental disabilities (IDD). The dual-approach system helps law enforcement and emergency personnel handle situations with greater understanding, ensuring safety and reducing the risk of harm.
FPD is honored to be the first agency to integrate CODE JOSHUA into its Dispatch and Patrol operations. Families can voluntarily share details about their loved ones’ behaviors, characteristics, and needs, allowing dispatchers to access and utilize this information during emergency calls. The database is available in 17 languages, including Punjabi, Chinese, Tagalog, and American Sign Language ensuring accessibility for all families.
