 New boxART! Brightens Up Fremont
Fremont is blossoming with creativity! Our boxART! program continues to transform ordinary traffic signal control boxes into extraordinary works of art that enhance the city's aesthetic appeal and foster a sense of community.
We are excited to announce the completion of a new series of boxART! focused on sustainability. Local artists, from professionals to student artists, have brought their unique visions to life, exploring the many facets of the environment and sustainability. These vibrant designs, both painted and digital, are now beautifying our neighborhoods.
To view Fremont’s entire collection of boxART!, including our newly completed boxes, check out our interactive map. It includes photos, locations, artist names, and the inspiration behind each design.
Thank you to all the artists who have participated in this program and have helped bring more art to Fremont!

August is time for back to school, and it is also National Traffic Safety Awareness Month. We want to encourage drivers to be more aware and vigilant and for parents to take a proactive stance on traffic safety. Set aside some time to talk about safety with your children before they head back to school. Here is a short video on Back-to-School Safety Tips for Drivers, Parents and Children. Visit the City of Fremont’s Safe Routes to School webpage for more information including recommended walking and bicycling routes to school.

The Alameda-Contra Costa Transit District (AC Transit) has installed cameras with artificial intelligence (AI) hardware and software on 100 buses to help detect and issue citations to all illegally parked or stopped vehicles at AC Transit bus stops.
As of August 7, AC Transit will issue warnings, but beginning October 7, these warnings will be replaced with a $110 citation. When a violation is suspected, the system will produce and send an evidence package to the transit law enforcement team who will then review the package and determine whether a citation should be issued to the registered vehicle owner. Automated camera citations were previously used for station and bus only lane violations along the Tempo Line 1T corridor. With the passing of Assembly Bill 917, AC Transit is now permitted to use forward-facing cameras to issue citations for vehicles illegally parked at bus stops and in transit-only lanes.
To learn more about the state law and how AC Transit will be using the AI technology, visit AC Transit's website.

Celebrate Coastal Cleanup Day on September 21
Join us on Saturday, September 21 from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm as we celebrate the 40th Annual Coastal Cleanup Day! Be part of a global movement with over 9 million volunteers by helping to clean up litter and debris from our local waterways.
The City will be hosting cleanup events at various sites throughout Fremont. Online registration to volunteer for these events will open on Wednesday, August 21 at 6:00 am.
Families, businesses, and community groups are also encouraged to organize their own cleanup events any time during September. Track and report your collected trash using the Ocean Conservancy’s Clean Swell app to contribute to statewide goals!
For more information, visit the City’s Coastal Cleanup Day webpage.
Let's work together to help keep Fremont’s waterways clean and healthy!
The Police and Fire Departments enjoyed visiting parties for National Night Out 2024! The City of Fremont visited over 80 parties meeting our community and getting to know everyone who attended.
City of Fremont staff across numerous departments including Fire, Police, City Manager, Information Technology, Human Resources, Public Works, Planning, Community Development, and Economic Development were on-hand at the Fremont Festival of the Arts to share information about City initiatives, programs, services, and employment opportunities.
Thank you to the Fremont Chamber of Commerce for another fun-filled festival!
