Mayor Mei Delivers City of Fremont 2024 State of the City Address
Fremont Mayor Lily Mei delivered the 2024 State of the City Address on June 26 at a Special Meeting held at the Fremont Downtown Event Center. During the address, Mayor Mei highlighted the City’s initiatives and accomplishments over the last year tied to the City Council’s goals of maintaining funding for addressing and preventing homelessness, ensuring public safety, and prioritizing environmental sustainability. The City of Fremont and the Fremont Chamber of Commerce hosted the annual State of the City Address. The public event was held for free, and no tickets were required.
In addition, San Francisco Bay University President Dr. Nicholas Ladany delivered a welcome message and update on the University, and Fremont Chamber of Commerce CEO Cindy Bonior delivered the Chamber’s annual introduction and update.

As we continue to increase our City’s transparency initiatives, Fremont has debuted new tools to provide real-time data to help our community visualize and stay informed on how we are tracking toward Citywide goals.
The Fremont App Data Dashboard features information on the top ten service request types, the number of open and closed requests, a map of where requests are being made, the number of times the mobile app was downloaded, and more. The Climate Action Data Dashboard focuses on our sustainability efforts including Fremont’s GHG emissions, while our Drone as First Responder Dashboard provides flight data. Planning is also underway to add additional dashboards on topics such as our homelessness response.
Share Your Input on the Active Transportation Plan before the Phase 3 Survey & Interactive Map Closes on June 28
The Active Transportation Plan’s Phase 3 Survey and Interactive Map are closing this Friday, June 28. If you haven’t already, please provide your input on project and program priorities through the survey and location-based input on the proposed bicycle network and pedestrian priority areas through the interactive map. The proposed bicycle network and pedestrian priority areas on this map are based on input provided in the fall and spring, and represent a vision for Fremont’s active transportation system.
The Active Transportation Plan Team is also planning an open house event in the fall to share the draft plan with the community and receive additional feedback before final City Council review and adoption in the winter.

Fireworks Banned in the City of Fremont
Fremont’s public safety departments would like to remind Fremont residents, businesses, and visitors that the sale, possession, and use of all fireworks are banned in Fremont. This ban includes the “safe and sane” variety of fireworks that are legal in some other cities. The ban, in effect since December 1986, has helped reduce the number of injuries, wildland fires, and structure fires caused by fireworks in the City of Fremont.
Fire and Police resources will be on patrol in Fremont during the peak times of concern to maintain an active vigilance against wildland fires along our hillside and fireworks use.
