 Engage with the City on May 14: Proposed Operating Budget Presentation
Have you ever wondered how the City of Fremont prepares its budget and plans for the financial sustainability of the community? The first of three public meetings will take place on Tuesday, May 14 at 7:00 pm. Next Tuesday, you will have the opportunity to hear the Fiscal Year 2024-2025 Proposed Operating Budget Presentation presented by the City’s Finance Director and Treasurer, David Persselin.
The meeting will be held at the Fremont City Council Chambers located at 3300 Capitol Ave., Building A. You may also engage with the meeting virtually via Zoom or on Cable TV Channel 27, the Fremont Government Channel.

 Fremont Police Department Shares 2023 Annual Report
Want to know what our Police Department has been up to in the last year? Check out the Fremont Police Department’s 2023 Annual Report. In the report, you’ll find data such as:
- Our Department answered 297,302 calls in 2023 – averaging 815 calls answered per day.
- FPD personnel spent 48,044 hours in training.
- There were 16,889 original police reports documented.
The report also contains statistics on special deployments, personnel composition, equipment, and much more.
Main Street Village, an affordable housing property located in Fremont's Irvington District, has opened its waitlist for rental units. The property is located at 3615 Main St. The deadline to apply is Wednesday, June 12, 2024.

On Tuesday, May 7, the Fremont City Council adopted an amendment to the City's Master Fee Schedule, which contains all fees and charges attached to City services. The amendment includes updating Building and Planning user fees to reflect updated hourly costs, addressing recent State law changes for certain fees, establishing new fees for new services, and simplifying fee descriptions and methodology. The updated Master Fee Schedule will be effective July 8, 2024. For more information, read the City Council staff report.

Councilmember Desrie Campbell is hosting an upcoming town hall meeting for District 2 residents. Scheduled for Thursday, May 30, 2024, the event will take place at the Los Cerritos Community Center, located at 3377 Alder Ave., from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm. This town hall presents a valuable opportunity for community members to engage directly with key City departments.
Representatives from the City Attorney’s Office, City Manager’s Office, Community Development, Finance Department, and Police Department will be in attendance to provide presentations and participate in discussions. To ensure participation, attendees are advised to arrive on time, as seats are limited.
Councilmember Campbell encourages all residents to attend and contribute to the conversation on matters concerning District 2 and the city at large. Mark your calendar and join us for an informative and collaborative evening at the District 2 town hall meeting.
A draft of Fremont’s Homelessness Response Plan will be presented to the Fremont City Council on Tuesday, May 21. City staff will be asking the Council to consider the draft plan for adoption. The plan was developed through an engagement process with the community and will help guide the City’s increased efforts in responding to homelessness in Fremont. The meeting will be held at 7:00 pm in the City Council Chambers, located at 3300 Capitol Ave. in Fremont. The meeting agenda with a link to the staff report and the draft plan will be available at the City’s Agenda Center no later than three days before the meeting. It’s the 30th anniversary of Bike to Wherever Day on Thursday, May 16, a day where people choose to bike to and from their daily destinations to promote bicycling as an impactful alternative to driving. This activity benefits your health and the earth and reduces traffic congestion. Take the pledge to bike to wherever and don’t forget to stop by one of many energizer stations throughout the city.
It’s also Bike to School Day! Plan ahead and review the recommended bike route to/from your school. And don’t forget about the family-friendly bike tour of Fremont happening this Saturday, May 11, highlighting new bike infrastructure and upcoming projects, including learning more about the Active Transportation Plan and other projects like the East Bay Greenway Trail. This bike ride includes a stop at Walnut Avenue/Liberty Street for a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the addition of a new protected intersection to the City’s Fremont Boulevard Complete Streets network.

Join the Active Transportation Plan team in kicking off Phase 3 Outreach with a virtual workshop on Wednesday, May 15 at 6:00 pm via Zoom. Whether you provided your input previously or are new to learning about the Plan, this is a great opportunity to learn about the Plan’s development and provide your feedback on future walking and biking programs and projects. The Fremont Police Department would like to announce a community town hall on autism on Friday, May 24, 2024, at the Fremont Downtown Event Center, located at 3500 Capitol Ave., from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm in the State Room. In collaboration with Joshua’s Gift, we want to hear from the neurodiverse community. FPD would like to present our goals with Code Joshua and to get our community’s collective thoughts. BART train service between Union City and Warm Springs/South Fremont, including at the Fremont BART Station, will be replaced by bus bridges this weekend, Saturday, May 11 through Sunday, May 12, for critical BART track improvement work. BART crews will be replacing aging equipment and conducting proactive maintenance and vegetation management. Free buses provided by AC Transit will be available to move riders between Union City, Fremont, and Warm Springs/South Fremont. Riders can expect delays ranging from 20 to 40 minutes.
