The City has two Below Market Price (BMP) homes now available for sale through the City’s First Time Homebuyer Program. The townhomes are part of the new Hartford master-planned community in the Niles District in Fremont. Both homes are designated for moderate-income households. The homes are currently under construction and are scheduled to be completed and available between July and August 2024.
Interested homebuyers are required to submit a lottery application and participate in a lottery to be selected to purchase the Hartford BMP homes. Bay Area Affordable Homeownership Alliance (BAAHA), a 501c3 nonprofit housing organization, has been contracted by the project developer to manage the lottery application process for the Hartford BMP homes.
For more information, including eligibility requirements and application information, visit BAAHA’s website or view the property flyer.
Lottery applications must be submitted by 5:00 pm on Friday, June 14, 2024.
Construction to modernize traffic signals at the Fremont Boulevard and Walnut Avenue intersection is nearing completion. A traffic signal switchover is scheduled for the greater part of Wednesday, May 8 starting at 9:00 am. During that time, intersection traffic signals will be turned off and intersections will be controlled by stop signs. If possible, please avoid driving through the intersections on the day of the switchover to avoid these delays. Thank you for your patience while the City works to complete the project construction. Fremont’s 2024 Earth Day Fair was a success! This community event was held on April 20 to help increase our local environmental awareness and prepare for a climate ready future.
Under bright sunny skies, the event transformed the Downtown Event Center into a bustling hub of learning and entertainment. Hundreds of attendees enjoyed the festivities, exploring exhibits and booths covering a wide range of environmental topics. Attendees learned about local environmental initiatives and programs; explored sustainable gardening techniques; received a free bike tune-up or a tomato plant; and discovered practical tips for eco-friendly living. Interactive activities kept attendees engaged, while live music, jugglers, and food trucks added another touch of fun.
The City would like to thank all of the exhibitors, attendees, volunteers, staff, and sponsors who helped make this event possible! Everyone’s participation demonstrates the strong commitment within our community to help create a clean, healthy, and resilient future for Fremont.
A special thanks to our sponsors: Washington Hospital Healthcare System, LEAF, Dale Hardware, CentriPEDAL Bikes, and Food Truck Mafia.
On April 25, the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) participated in a tour of the City’s innovative microgrid system (solar + battery storage) at Fremont Fire Station 11, located at 47200 Lakeview Blvd. in South Fremont. The tour was hosted by Gridscape Solutions, the Fremont-based clean technology firm who formed a public-private partnership with the City to install the system.
Staff members from the CPUC visited the station to learn about how the microgrid and its essential components function to provide community resiliency during power outage emergencies. The CPUC team was comprised of regulatory analysts, engineers, and managers with expertise in microgrids, resiliency, and other utility distribution planning issues.
The City appreciates Gridscape hosting this opportunity to highlight the fire station’s microgrid system which provides multiple benefits to the City and the community including reducing energy demand on the grid, protecting critical facilities against power outages, supporting local innovation and entrepreneurship, increasing community resilience, saving money, and reducing carbon emissions. By showcasing this successful implementation, the City hopes to inspire the adoption of similar microgrid solutions across California, promoting a more resilient and sustainable energy future.

The City’s Ride-On Tri-City! transportation program was recently awarded a multi-year grant from the Alameda County Transportation Commission to provide on-demand accessible rides for Tri-City residents who use wheelchairs. The project, targeted for launch in July 2025, will fill a critical service gap and ensure that community members who use wheelchairs have equitable transportation options for health care, shopping, and other daily needs. The City will receive $500,000 to pilot the service for two years, with the option for additional funding if the project is successful.
If you are a community member who uses a wheelchair or a caregiver to such person, Ride-On Tri-City! would like to solicit your feedback for the design of the new on-demand accessible service. To participate, please contact us at 510-574-2053 or by email.
Ride-On Tri-City! receives Measure B/BB funds through the Alameda County Transportation Commission.
