Compost Giveaway Day is this Sunday
Our popular Compost Giveaway Day returns this Sunday, April 7! From 8:00 am to noon, join us at the Fremont Recycling & Transfer Station (41149 Boyce Rd.) to receive two free bags of compost, while supplies last. Simply drive through and show your latest Republic Services bill as proof as participation. Bring your neighbors’ bills for additional bags.
Our quality compost is made from food scraps, yard trimmings, and food-soiled paper collected from Fremont residents and businesses. By sorting properly, we create nutrient-rich compost that enriches soil and helps plants thrive. Don't miss out on this opportunity to take home compost that's truly local and eco-friendly.
April is Arab American Heritage Month
During the month of April, the City invites everyone to celebrate the diversity of our community and to recognize the importance of sharing our culture, customs, and traditions with those around us. An Arab American Heritage Month flag is on display throughout April at City Hall.
Join us in celebrating the vibrant engineering and maker community of Fremont! In collaboration with Fremont Unified School District, Irvington High School, and local partners, we're excited to host the Engineering Expo, taking place at the Downtown Event Center, located at 3500 Capitol Ave., on April 11 from 5:00 pm to 7:30 pm!
This event will showcase student-engineered technology projects, feature delicious local culinary delights, and highlight the talents of Fremont-based craft makers. Representatives from Fremont's advanced manufacturing companies will also be present to share knowledge about their manufactured goods. Don't miss out on this exciting opportunity to explore innovation and creativity in our community!
The planning phase for the Central Park Community Center project is underway and the City wants to hear from you! Help shape the vision of the new multi-use community center by participating in the online survey before it closes on April 7. To take the survey and to learn more about the project and upcoming meetings, visit our MyFremont page.

Spring is here and flowers are blooming. And with warmer weather and longer days, more people are also coming out to walk, bike, roll and stroll throughout the city.
As drivers, look out for pedestrians and bicyclists everywhere, and at all times, particularly for children, older adults, and persons with disabilities. Always drive at a safe speed given the roadway condition, regardless of the posted speed limit.
As pedestrians or bicyclists, follow the rules of the road. Do not bike against the direction of traffic, and when crossing the street, remember to always look left, right, and left again before crossing. Do not assume drivers will stop at traffic signals, stop signs, or crosswalk beacons. Always make eye contact, and if needed, use hand gestures to confirm acknowledgment with approaching drivers.
As parents, take the time to teach and remind your children about traffic safety.
Calling all middle school and high school students! It's time to think "outside the box" and help beautify Fremont! Our boxART! program is back, and we are looking for student artists to paint Fremont’s traffic signal control boxes. The theme is "Sustainability," and the deadline for submissions is Wednesday, April 24. For more information, visit the boxART! Call for Artists webpage.
