The City of Fremont Supports Local Businesses With Second Annual Restaurant Week
FREMONT, Calif. — March 21, 2024 — The City of Fremont’s Economic Development Department welcomes back Restaurant Week from March 22 through 31, sponsored by global foodservice leader Sysco. Organized in partnership with the Fremont Chamber of Commerce and Yelp Bay Area, Restaurant Week aims to celebrate and support Fremont small businesses by highlighting the diverse range of culinary offerings available in our city.
Throughout the 10-day event, over 40 local participating restaurants will offer exclusive, limited-time specials and showcase their culinary talents, ranging from fine dining brunch and stacked burgers to a flight of locally brewed beer.
The event will kick off with an opening-day celebration organized by the Fremont Chamber at Billy Roy’s Burger Co., in Fremont’s Centerville District. In attendance will be President Cindy Bonior of the Fremont Chamber of Commerce, East Bay Community Manager Jessica Gelico of Yelp Bay Area, representatives from Sysco and City of Fremont leadership and elected officials.
“Calling all foodies! Join me and our vibrant Fremont community as we kick off our second annual Restaurant Week celebration in partnership with Sysco, a longstanding Fremont business specializing in critical food/hospitality products and crafting restaurant solutions,” City of Fremont Mayor Lily Mei said. “We’re bringing you a culinary extravaganza featuring over 45 local restaurants showcasing the flavors of our region. Let's celebrate and support our thriving food eateries together.”
“We’re proud to support our customers and the vital foodservice community through our sponsorship of the City of Fremont Restaurant Week,” said Brian Barton, Sysco’s Northern California Region President. “Over half of our customers for our Sysco site in Fremont are independently owned businesses and we’re committed to helping them succeed.”
Brian continued, “We’re also eager to champion sustainable dining experiences through our sustainable product assortment and zero emission deliveries. In 2021, we were the first U.S. foodservice distributor to set a science-based climate goal to reduce our emissions by 27.5% by 2030. We now have six electric heavy-duty vehicles in the Fremont area and plan to deploy more by this June.”
Following last year’s inaugural Restaurant Week, a survey of participating restaurants found that a majority saw at least a 25% increase in revenue from the event. Additionally, 92% reported attracting new customers, 75% saw increased foot traffic and revenues, and nine in 10 said they’d like to participate again.
