Fremont Thanks Community for Supporting Unhoused Residents
The City of Fremont is grateful for the ongoing support our community shows for our unhoused residents. In response to a recent need for new shoes, the Niles Rotary Club generously donated $1,500. This allowed our Human Services Department to purchase 37 pairs of shoes that are being distributed directly to those who need them most. Cargill, a longtime partner in supporting our community, also stepped up by donating $20,000 to provide meals to those in our Winter Relief program. We would like to thank these two organizations for their generous donations. These are just two examples of the many individuals, groups, and businesses making a difference in the lives of our unhoused residents.
If you are interested in helping, you can learn more about donation options and volunteer opportunities by visiting the City’s How to Help webpage.

Our popular Compost Giveaway Day returns on Sunday, April 7! From 8:00 am to noon, join us at the Fremont Recycling & Transfer Station (41149 Boyce Rd.) to receive two free bags of compost, while supplies last. Simply drive through and show your latest Republic Services bill as proof as participation. Bring your neighbors’ bills for additional bags.
Our quality compost is made from food scraps, yard trimmings, and food-soiled paper collected from Fremont residents and businesses. By sorting properly, we create nutrient-rich compost that enriches soil and helps plants thrive.
Remember, organic waste like food, plants, and paper produce methane in landfills, contributing to greenhouse gas emissions. By using our green carts for these items, we're making a positive impact on the environment.
Don't miss out on this opportunity to take home compost that's truly local and eco-friendly.

 Age-Friendly Fremont Survey
In 2019, the City of Fremont established its first Age-Friendly Action Plan for 2020-2025. An Age-Friendly City is a livable city for everyone. Older adults should feel safe, healthy, and happy while living in Fremont. The City’s Human Services Department is in the process of updating this Plan for the next five years. One of the first steps is to survey the community about its feelings regarding what it’s like to age in Fremont and to better understand the concerns and needs of older adults in the community.

 Senior Peer Counselors Needed
Aging and Family Services is seeking warm and compassionate volunteers to assist older adults in its Senior Peer Counseling (SPC) Program.
The SPC Program assists Tri-City elders, 55 years or older, facing moderate mental health issues. A licensed professional therapist supervises the program. Volunteers must be at least 50 years of age and able to participate in a 36-hour training.

 Pet of the Week
Racoona's journey began with challenges. A young pup barely over a year old, she's a stunning girl who takes her time to open up. With patience and understanding, she will blossom into a loyal companion. Eager to please, she enjoys games of fetch, the company of other dogs, and the great outdoors. To welcome her into your family, apply online. A customer service team member will review your application and contact you to set up an appointment on a first-come, first-served basis. All adoptions from the Tri City Animal Shelter include vaccinations, flea treatment, deworming, microchipping, and spay/neuter surgery.
Calling all professional artists! Time is ticking to apply for the City’s boxART! program to paint one of Fremont’s traffic signal control boxes. The deadline for submissions is this Monday, March 11 at 12:00 pm. Artists must be 18+ years old, and an $800 stipend is available for selected designs. Don't miss this chance to turn Fremont into your canvas and showcase your talent!
