2nd Annual Fremont Restaurant Week

Get ready for the 2nd Annual Fremont Restaurant Week, proudly sponsored by Sysco and organized in partnership with the Fremont Chamber of Commerce and Yelp East Bay. From March 22nd to March 31st, over 40 restaurants will showcase their culinary talents ranging from fine dining brunch, stacked burgers, sweet and creamy boba, to a flight of locally brewed beer. This event is an opportunity to support local businesses—whether you're discovering a new favorite eatery or revisiting old haunts, your patronage plays a crucial role in sustaining Fremont's vibrant dining scene. Fremont City Council Approves Drone as First Responder (DFR) Program

On February 13, 2024, Fremont City Council approved the deployment of the Fremont Public Safety Drone as First Responder (DFR) Program. The new program was first explored in 2022 by Fremont Police and Fire and is the first joint public safety DFR program in the country. Fremont is one of only a few agencies currently integrating this technology. DFR utilizes Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) launched from a fixed location to respond rapidly to public safety incidents. The goal of DFR is to arrive on-scene ahead of responding public safety personnel.

SR-84 Reopens with One-Way Traffic Control between Old Canyon Rd. & Main St. in Sunol  

Caltrans has reopened State Route 84 (SR-84) with one-way traffic control between Old Canyon Road and Main Street in Sunol. The road was closed on February 19 because the ground underneath deteriorated, which caused a portion of the highway to collapse early Monday morning. During the closure, crews accomplished a range of tasks, including repairing rock fall netting, clearing vegetation obstructing signage visibility, and installing one-way traffic control signals. A temporary fix is in place and Caltrans is working on a permanent fix. Temporary traffic signals will be in place to regulate one-way traffic control until repairs can be completed.

Spring into STEAM Event

Calling all innovators! Join the City of Fremont for the Spring into STEAM event on Wednesday, March 27, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Downtown Event Center, located at 3500 Capitol Ave. The Spring into STEAM event is a Cargill-sponsored event hosted by the City of Fremont, endorsing educational programs that will lead to careers in science, technology, engineering, arts, and math.

Explore exciting activities, win prizes, and enjoy food trucks and music—all while celebrating science, technology, engineering, arts, and math! Don't miss FUSD's STEAM Scavenger Hunt, too!

New Senior Affordable Housing Development Welcomes Residents Home

Welcome home to our newest neighbors! Earlier this month, we celebrated the grand opening of Doug Ford Community Apartments, a brand new senior affordable housing development in the heart of Fremont’s Irvington District. Built in partnership with Abode, this development includes 90 units of permanent supportive housing for seniors.

The City would like to thank everyone involved in making this project a reality! We're happy to welcome our new residents home and offer them a place to thrive in our community.

Quarterly Maintenance at Central Park Dog Park

The Central Park Large and Small Dog Park Areas will be closed for quarterly maintenance February 27-29. The Dog Park will reopen on Friday, March 1, 2024.

Tasks include deep steam cleaning, maintaining shrubs/trees, and disinfecting the turf, structures, fixtures, and drinking fountains.
