Announcing Special Event Sponsorship Program for Fiscal Year 2024/25
The City of Fremont is pleased to announce the Special Event Sponsorship Program (SESP) for community events to be held from July 1, 2024 to June 30, 2025. To be considered for sponsorship, event organizers must meet all eligibility criteria and apply to the program via a Letter of Intent by Jan. 10, 2024, at 12:00 pm. The final allocation of sponsorship funds will be determined and announced following the City’s Fiscal Year 2024/25 budget adoption in June 2024. To learn about the program, join our virtual information session on Thursday, November 9, 2023, at 11:00 am.
Daylight Saving Time Ends This Sunday
Be prepared to gain one hour and to lose some daylight this Sunday, November 5. This time of year, is also associated with more car crashes due to disrupted sleep patterns and the difference in lighting conditions during commute hours. View helpful tips on driving safely after daylight saving time ends. Also, daylight saving time is always a good reminder to check your smoke alarm and carbon monoxide batteries to ensure they're working properly.

Financial burdens from rising costs confront many of our neighbors. Some will have to make tough choices on prioritizing their shrinking budget this holiday season. This is particularly difficult for families with children.
Make life a little brighter for others in our community. Make a gift to Giving Hope.
On July 18, 2023, the Fremont City Council authorized the reconstruction plan for Vallejo Mill Historical Park. The upcoming site development improvements include the addition of a dog park in a natural setting with existing trees, bark mulch surfacing, four feet high fencing, and park user and maintenance access gates and entry areas. The plan also includes four new pickleball courts including a sports court and parking lot pathway lighting. New parking will include ADA accessible stalls and provisions for future electric vehicle chargers. The park is scheduled to close on January 18, 2024 and will be completed by summer 2024 barring unforeseen conditions and weather delays.
The City is working on a comprehensive transition plan to assist unhoused community members currently sleeping in tents and vehicles within the park. The plan includes outreach, connection to intensive supportive services, temporary shelter placements, and stable housing options. These efforts began in September, and City staff is visiting the park on a weekly basis to meet with those who live there to better understand their needs.

Share Your Feedback for the Active Transportation Plan
Phase 2 of the Active Transportation Plan (ATP) development is coming to a close along with the Phase 1 Survey and Phase 2 Interactive Map too. The City’s Transportation Engineering Team organized and participated in over a dozen of neighborhood-specific and Citywide events throughout the past few months and learned so much from the community about walking and biking in and around their neighborhoods.
There is still time to provide your input! Share your feedback by taking our Phase 1 Survey and Phase 2 Interactive Map before they close on November 17. Your input is vital in helping ensure that future City investments will meet the needs of the community for walking, biking, and rolling in Fremont. Visit the ATP MyFremont page for more information.

Provide Input on AC Transit Realign Service Scenarios thru Dec. 13
The Alameda-Contra Costa Transit District (AC Transit) is planning a new bus service network and is seeking feedback on three preliminary service proposals. The proposals are based on feedback received earlier this year from the community on their transit needs.
You can learn about each proposal, view interactive maps, and provide feedback online, or you can participate in one of AC Transit’s upcoming engagement events in person or virtually. AC Transit has three meetings scheduled in Fremont: Nov. 8, Nov. 15, and Nov. 21.
The Realign Plan will analyze every mile of where service is currently operating in order to realign bus lines to better meet the mobility needs of current bus riders and to attract more riders during a time of bus operator shortages and budget challenges.
