Groundbreaking for New Affordable Housing Development in Fremont
More affordable housing is on the way for Fremont! This week, the City celebrated the groundbreaking of Bell Street Gardens (38889 Bell St.), a future affordable housing development located in Central Fremont at the corner of Bell St. and Mowry Ave. Built in partnership with Resources for Community Development (RCD), this development will provide 126 units for low-income families and individuals. It includes the renovation of an existing two-story motel, which will add a third story of residential units on top of the existing structure, and the creation of a new four-story building. Construction is expected to finish by spring 2025. To receive information when the units become available, sign up for the City’s Affordable Housing Interest List.

As we enter the rainy season, it is important to know your risk for flooding. There are many easy things you can do to be prepared including checking whether your property is located in a flood zone, purchasing flood insurance, building responsibly, and developing an evacuation plan for your family. Another way to be prepared is by protecting your property from hazards and having sandbags handy. The City provides sand and bags for Fremont residents and businesses (maximum of 10 bags and while supplies last), just bring your shovel to one of three locations throughout the city. Visit our website for more information on sandbag locations and what to do before, during, and after a flood.
Statistics show that kids are twice more likely to be hit by a car on Halloween than on any other day of the year. There are many easy ways to stay safe, including making you and your costumes stand out by adding reflective elements for higher visibility to other roadway users, or by having a flashlight handy. Designate a route and review it with your group of trick-or-treaters beforehand and try to stay in well-lit areas.

- Optimizing Client Experience and Outcomes

- Positioning the FRC as an Essential Service Leader
- Securing Financial Stability
The FRC is excited to launch this plan as it continues serving the community.
Since 2018, Fremont has been a member of East Bay Community Energy (EBCE), our not-for-profit public power provider. With EBCE, community members have access to low-cost green energy and a variety of community benefits. On October 24, East Bay Community Energy became Ava Community Energy. This name change is part of a larger brand refresh for the agency. As a Fremont customer there are no actions for you to take.
