Last month, Fremont Fire Station 6 celebrated the arrival of their new fire engine, Engine 56, with a “Push-In” ceremony. Push-In ceremonies pay tribute to firefighting in the late 1800s when departments used horse-drawn equipment and hand-drawn pumpers. After returning to the station, horses weren’t easily able to back the equipment into a designated area so they were disconnected from the fire equipment and firefighters would push the equipment back by hand. Engine 56, a 2023 Pierce Enforcer, is a new Chassis for the Fremont Fire Department. The Enforcer has a higher tank capacity, more storage capability and will be the template for all of the Fremont Fire Type 1 engines built in the future. We look forward to Engine 56 (E-56) serving the community for many years to come!
