Fremont - The movie, to play at Ciné Lounge Fremont 7 Cinemas beginning August 25.
Fremont, once home to Essanay Film Manufacturing Company that produced more than 300 silent films in the early 1900s, is once again the backdrop in the newly announced drama, Fremont. The Indy film first debuted at Sundance in early 2023 where it received three awards and six additional nominations. This 91-minute drama tells the story of Donya, a recent Afghan refugee who is overcome with thoughts of her past working as an American interpreter in Afghanistan, while trying to establish her new life in the U.S. The movie will be shown locally at the Ciné Lounge Fremont 7, as well as other theaters in the Bay Area and beyond.
For community movie-goers, try to identify the many locations filmed in Fremont as well as other recognizable places throughout the Bay Area!
