Thank you to Assemblymember Alex Lee for his ongoing support to the Fremont community and for securing an additional $1 million for Fremont’s multi-use community center at Central Park! This is a significant contribution toward our $58 million dollar community investment at Central Park, bringing our total secured funding to $35 million. The City will be working to secure the final $23 million with our State and Federal partners, as well as our community, in the upcoming months for this state-of-the-art facility with spaces for community events and programs, alongside health and wellness activities. The planning and design phase of the project is underway, with construction expected to begin in 2026. The City plans to open the multi-use community center in 2028.
August is time for back to school, and it’s also National Traffic Awareness Month. Be more aware and vigilant as we transition back to school-day congestion. Parents should set aside time to talk about traffic safety and safe routes with their kids before they head back to school. Check out the resources available for drivers, parents, and students.

BART’s safety initiative to remove potentially hazardous trees in advance of severe winter storms is underway. To provide workers with enough room to safely do the work, free buses will replace trains between Union City and Fremont stations on three non-consecutive weekends: August 26-27, September 9-10, and September 23-24. During these work weekends, train service between the Union City and Fremont BART Stations will be replaced by a free bus shuttle, which could result in delays of up to 30 minutes for riders.
