July marks the beginning of the Fremont Family Resource Center’s (FRC’s) 25th year of service! We plan to highlight the wonderful work of our FRC partner organizations all year long by sharing success stories and recollections about the FRC. We will also host a series of activities for the community beginning with Halloween Flair on October 20 as we decorate our doors and join ‘Trick or Treat on Safety Street,’ welcoming children and their families into our building. Planning is also underway for a Resource Fair in the spring and a culminating celebration in 2024.
The metal silver, representing stability, warmth, and durability, often symbolizes a 25th anniversary. For the past 25 years, the FRC has provided a place of stability and warmth for community members seeking information, resources, and compassion in a time of need. Our 23 agencies receive over 40,000 community visits annually with hundreds of families coming weekly for FRC services.
The FRC not only helps those who may be in personal crisis, but also helps many in times of national and international crisis situations as well. Over the past three years, we provided $17.2 million in emergency rental and financial assistance for those financially impacted by COVID-19. After the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan, our FRC agencies and external community partners worked together to assist Afghan Refugees with documentation, benefits, employment, housing, and counseling. We are a collaborative organization that “thinks globally and acts locally.”
To learn more about the FRC, follow us on Facebook and sign up for our bi-monthly FRC Update newsletter. We look forward to celebrating with you!

The Bay Area District of Caltrans (District 4) is updating their 2018 Bike Plan and is looking for feedback from bike riders on how cycling along or across State Highways can be made more comfortable and convenient. In Fremont, examples of State Highways that may be of interest for local cycling include: Route 238 (Mission Boulevard) in the Niles area or around Mission San Jose High School; freeway interchange crossings like Decoto Road at Interstate 880, Mowry Avenue at Interstate 880 or Mission Boulevard at Interstate 680; and freeway frontage roads like Marshlands Road near the State Route 84 Dumbarton Bridge. The public survey is open now through the end of September.
The Fremont City Council is in Recess until September 2023. City Council agendas and how to attend the meetings will be posted online in the Agenda Center at least 72 hours in advance of the next scheduled meeting.
