On May 23, the City of Fremont – in partnership with the Cities of Newark and Union City, the Alameda County Water District, and the Union Sanitary District – kicked off the Tri-City Multi-jurisdictional Local Hazard Mitigation Plan project. The purpose of the plan is to reduce the long-term risk that natural disasters pose to people and property in Fremont, and neighboring communities, while improving resilience when disaster strikes. The plan will assess the risk of various hazards—including earthquake, wildfires, severe weather and climate change, flood, tsunami, and landslides—and then propose strategies to reduce such risk. Communities with a FEMA-approved Hazard Mitigation Plan are eligible to apply for pre- and post-disaster mitigation grant funding.
Get involved! Join us for an informational public meeting on July 13, from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm at the Age Well Center at Lake Elizabeth, 40086 Paseo Padre Pkwy. in Fremont.

City of Fremont 4th of July Fireworks Enforcement
During this 4th of July, Fremont Police officers responded to 65 calls for service and 24 Fremont App requests regarding illegal fireworks. Fremont Police Department ultimately confiscated over 2,335 counts of fireworks and issued nine citations. Fremont Police, Fire, and City staff proactively made contact at numerous locations throughout the city and issued verbal warnings. FPD’s priority was to educate and prevent injuries.
