 Fremont 4th of July Parade
Make the most of your Independence Day holiday by attending the Fremont 4th of July Parade! The parade will start at 10:00 am on Stevenson Blvd. at the Fremont Main Library, continue down Paseo Padre Parkway, and end on Capitol Avenue at the Downtown Event Center. The parade is organized by the Fremont 4th of July Parade, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit community organization; the parade and related events are funded by community sponsorship and donations.
The Fremont Police Department asks attendees to please refrain from bringing backpacks and large bags into the parade area. All bags are subject to search. In addition, UAVs (drones) will not be permitted to fly over the parade route or within the event venue. Only official parade participants with credentials will be allowed to enter the staging area and parade route.
Please plan ahead—several major roadways will be closed during the parade. All road closures will begin on July 4 from approximately 6:00 am and roads are expected to reopen by 2:00 pm. Please expect heavy traffic and delays in the area for the duration of the event.

All Fireworks are Banned in the City of Fremont
Fremont’s public safety departments would like to remind Fremont residents, businesses, and visitors that the sale, possession, and use of all fireworks are banned within the city of Fremont. This ban includes the “safe and sane” variety of fireworks that are legal in some other cities. The ban, in effect since December 1986, has helped reduce the number of injuries, wildland fires, and structure fires caused by fireworks in the City of Fremont.

Report Fireworks Using the Fremont App
From 4:00 pm on July 4 to 2:00 am on July 5, community members are encouraged to report illegal firework activities via the Fremont App.
Additional police resources will be monitoring and relaying information to field personnel. Complaints with specific details such as an address, and description of those involved will receive higher priority.
Have a Happy and Safe 4th of July!

Last Sunday, nearly 50 people joined the City’s Human Relations Commission's walking contingent in the 2023 San Francisco Pride Parade. Many City of Fremont staff, members of the Celebrating Diversity Circle, and Fremont residents joined the HRC in celebration of the LGBTQ+ community.
Starting tomorrow, July 1, 2023, the City of Fremont’s minimum wage will increase to $16.80 per hour. Employers are required to pay at least the minimum wage for all hours worked to hourly employees who perform work within the geographic boundaries of the City of Fremont. Employers are also required to post the official City of Fremont Wage Bulletin in the top five languages spoken in the city in a conspicuous place at each work site. The Official Bulletins, including translated versions, are available for download on the City’s Minimum Wage webpage. To avoid a reduction in the valuable services they provide to the community, the minimum wage ordinance exempts employees of non-profit corporations. For questions, please contact us by email.
VITA volunteers and staff celebrating with City Council members 21 year of providing this important service.
Earlier this year, the Fremont Family Resource Center’s (FFRC) Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) satellite site located at the Union City Family Center (UCFC) received a routine, unannounced visit from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) conducting a Quality Statistical Site review. The results were outstanding! The UCFC site met 100% of all site measures and 100% of returns reviewed were prepared correctly. In addition, it was noted that the Chief of the Quality Program Office (QPO), the office that oversees VITA reviews for the IRS, was impressed with “several great best practices” identified during its review of the UCFC, specifically naming the checklists and worksheet used to tax topics like education and self-employment expenses. As a result, our VITA program was asked if it would like to send experienced, knowledgeable VITA volunteer tax coaches to participate on a QPO product team. VITA coaches Winston Shih and Alexander Ho will represent our VITA program on the review team. This opportunity will allow us to provide feedback that impacts the VITA program nationwide.
The FFRC has been providing VITA tax services to low-income families in the Tri-Cities for over 21 years. Even though the UCFC program was reviewed, the policies and procedures that received such positive feedback are used across all our VITA centers. This recognition from the IRS is a testament to quality work our VITA program provides the residents of Fremont and the Tri-Cities.
