City Council Meeting Updates
Homelessness Response Strategic Plan Underway
On Tuesday, May 2, 2023, the Fremont City Council approved a service agreement with EdeColigny Consulting, LLC to develop the City’s first Homelessness Response Strategic Plan. The Strategic Plan will provide the City with a comprehensive response to homelessness, long-term best-practice recommendations to assist in reducing overall homelessness, be in alignment with the Alameda County Home Together 2026 plan, and develop a framework to respond to the street level community impacts of homelessness.
City to Consider State Homekey Application on May 9
This Tuesday, May 9, the Fremont City Council will consider an application to secure funding available through the State's Homekey Program (Round 3). The proposed project for the application is the conversion of a Motel 6—located at 46101 Research Avenue in Fremont—into a 156-unit affordable housing apartment complex.
The City Council will consider the Homekey application at their regularly scheduled meeting on May 9 at 7:00 p.m. at City Hall, located at 3300 Capitol Avenue in Fremont. The meeting will also be held virtually through Zoom. For more information, view the agenda and instructions for attending the virtual meeting. The instructions explain how to provide public comment in advance of the meeting and during the meeting. The agenda includes a link to a staff report for more information about the proposed application and project.

At next week’s regularly scheduled City Council meeting on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, which begins at 7:00 pm, the following items are scheduled on the Council Agenda:
- Introduce an Ordinance to Continue the Mission Peak Neighborhood Permit Parking Program
- Application for State Homekey Round 3 Funding

Our 2023 Fremont Youth Wellness Ambassadors are currently working on a social impact project: Intersections Between Culture and Mental Health. Selected Students are:
- Learning about mental health changes of the past few years among youth post COVID with a focus on culture.
- Designing a survey for students and Counselors.
- Presenting results to the Fremont Community.
The lead, Sanah Bhardwaj, will be receiving a proclamation at the May 9th City Council meeting to celebrate Children’s Mental Health Awareness Day and on behalf of her fellow student Ambassadors.

On May 10, from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm stop by the Fremont Main Library, 2400 Stevenson Blvd. to chat with Fremont police officers and command staff! The event provides an opportunity for our community to meet and greet with members of FPD. Come discuss public safety concerns and get acquainted.

Webinar May 11: Spring Pest Management in the Garden
Attend an upcoming organic gardening webinar on Thursday, May 11, from 5:00 to 6:00 pm. This free webinar will cover how to prevent or manage common pests like aphids, snails, earwigs, leaf chewers, and gophers without using harmful pesticide, along with a Q&A. The webinar is part of a series of free monthly classes about organic gardening and non-toxic pest control, offered throughout the 2023 growing season by the Clean Water Program Alameda County, of which the City is a member agency, in association with Our Water Our World.
