Following the annual August recess, City Council meetings will resume on September 6th. Community members may notice a change, as we begin a phased approach to resuming in-person City Council meetings. Beginning in September, City Councilmembers and critical City staff (City Manager, City Attorney, City Clerk, etc.) will return to Council Chambers to conduct meetings. Public participation will remain virtual, as will that of other presenting staff and guests. This phased approach will allow City Council members to convene and engage with follow Council colleagues, while limiting the exposure risk of Covid, which is still impacting our community and workforce. The City will continue to monitor public health conditions and use this time to ensure smooth functionality with the new Council Chamber technical systems before deciding when to allow in-person public participation.
All City Commissions will continue meeting virtually.

A Vehicle Assistance Fund has been established to assist Safe Parking Host Site Program participants with costs related to operating their vehicles safely and legally. Examples of costs covered by this fund include obtaining or replacing their driver's license, vehicle registration and insurance costs, reasonable car repairs, and gas vouchers.
For more information about how you can support this crucial program, contact the City’s Development Officer, Paula Manczuk-Hannay via email.
The Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) was recently passed by the U.S. Congress and signed into law by President Biden. The bill calls for investing billions of dollars over the next ten years to mitigate the effects of climate change—by far the single largest climate investment in U.S. history! The bill will put the U.S. on a path for a nearly 40% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2030.
To learn how the IRA will benefit California families and communities, view the California Fact Sheet recently released by the White House. Actions include lowering energy costs, creating good-paying jobs, boosting manufacturing, and reducing the cost of electric vehicles.
The City will continue to share information about this new bill and the benefits it will provide the community.
