The City of Fremont is seeking input from the community on transportation improvements to Paseo Padre Parkway between Driscoll Road and Washington Boulevard. Paseo Padre Parkway is an important route used by a variety of users, including residents who live along the street, residents who live in nearby neighborhoods, and people who travel through this section of roadway. This section of Paseo Padre Parkway is characterized by residential land uses along the street and is frequently crossed by students traveling to nearby middle and high schools; it is also an important thoroughfare connecting South Fremont, Central Fremont, and Interstate 680. The purpose of this survey is to understand issues faced by different users of Paseo Padre Parkway between Driscoll Road and Washington Boulevard and to solicit input on ideas to address a variety of transportation issues including safety, efficient traffic flow, and livability.

Every 2 years, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) requires communities to conduct a Point in Time Count of individuals, youth and families experiencing homelessness. The Point In Time Count provides a “snapshot” of homelessness (both sheltered and unsheltered) in our community and nationally. The Count provides critical data which will impact future homeless funding for Fremont, be used to understand homelessness locally, and to support strategic decisions about our programs. This year’s Point in Time Count took place on February 23, between 5:00 am to 9:00 am. Data will be released in early summer.

Last week, the City celebrated the grand opening of City Center Apartments, adding more affordable housing to Fremont! This new apartment complex, located at 38631 Fremont Blvd. in Central Fremont, provides 59 units of permanent and supportive affordable housing for some of the community’s most vulnerable members, including extremely low-income households and individuals who have experienced homelessness. City Center Apartments is also certified as GreenPoint Rated, California's most trusted rating for green, energy efficient homes.
The City provided $7.5 million in funding (generated from fees paid by market rate housing developers and federal Community Development Block Grant funding) and worked with Abode Services, Allied Housing, and their partners to help make City Center Apartments possible. The City would like to welcome these new families home and looks forward to creating more affordable housing opportunities for Fremont in the future.
