The pandemic is not over. Reopening safely means continuing vaccinations and protecting the health and wellbeing of our residents. Do’s and don’ts for daily life include protecting yourself and others by wearing a mask if you are unvaccinated, especially in crowded indoor spaces, wearing a mask on public transit even if vaccinated, honoring mask and distance rules in place at private businesses, and wearing a mask when you travel; getting tested if you are sick and/or getting tested if required by your workplace; and following safety rules for mega-events characterized by large crowds greater than 5,000 indoors and 10,000 outdoor attendees.
Please be kind if you see someone masked. People may have health conditions such as cancer or autoimmune diseases, unvaccinated children at home, or high-risk loved ones they are protecting, or asthma/other respiratory conditions and realized their symptoms are alleviated by a mask outdoors. Alameda County is aligned with the State’s mask mandate.
The CDC continues to recommend COVID-19 vaccination for everyone 12 years of age and older given the risk of COVID-19 illness and related, possibly severe complications. If you have concerns about COVID-19 vaccination, talk with your, or your child’s, doctor, nurse, or clinic. The known and potential benefits of COVID-19 vaccination outweigh the known and potential risks.
The State Employer Vaccination Toolkit helps businesses support employee vaccination. The toolkit includes types of vaccination support models, how to submit a worksite mobile clinic request, and other best practices to help employees access vaccines.
