The City of Fremont is encouraging community members to sign up for two notification systems, Nixle and AC Alert. These two systems will enable subscribers to receive information in the event of an emergency or natural disaster in Fremont from our public safety departments or Alameda County Office of Emergency Services.
Nixle sends text message alerts from Fremont’s public safety departments with information on critical incidents, road closures, and severe traffic. Text your Fremont ZIP code to 888777 to sign up for alerts and advisory messages. Or sign up online at www.Nixle.com for alerts, advisories and community messages via email notifications.
Alameda County’s AC Alert System notifies subscribers with critical information in the event of an emergency at any time of the day or evening. Select your home city, work location, and other sites of your choosing to receive notifications on your home, mobile, or business phones, emails, text messages, and more. AC Alert is a unified system for Alameda County residents, businesses and visitors, and works in partnership with Alameda County agencies and its 14 cities, which includes the City of Fremont. Sign up at www.acalert.org.
 Bike-Friendly Fremont Earns Silver-Level Recognition
Last week, during National Bike Week, the League of American Bicyclists honored the City of Fremont with a Silver-level certification as a Bicycle Friendly Community. Fremont moved up from its previous Bronze-level designation based on its recent engineering of new protected bikeways that “create safer streets and better bicycling for everyone.” Read the news release.
Of the 101 cities in the Bay Area, Fremont is now considered among the top-tier bike-friendly cities in the region. Fifteen cities are ranked as “Bronze.” Fremont now joins Emeryville, Mountain View, and Santa Rosa as “Silver.” The leading “Gold” level cities are Menlo Park, Oakland, Palo Alto, and San Francisco.

At the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, commercial eviction moratoriums were enacted by many governments including the City of Fremont. As various local ordinances expire, the City is participating in a virtual webinar with Silicon Valley Economic Development Alliance and other member agencies to help answer questions to assist your business recovery needs and keep commercial real estate vibrant in the Bay Area. Join us Wednesday, June 2, from 9:00-10:30 am to learn how businesses and property owners can work together to find a fair agreement to reconcile rent owed and renegotiate leases; hear what the legal protections are for tenants; and better understand the ramifications for property owners.
Since early February, the Fremont Fire Department (FFD) and Haller’s Pharmacy have partnered to offer weekend vaccination clinics at the FFD Tactical Training Center, providing over 20,000 vaccinations! With the increase in availability and access to COVID-19 vaccines, the weekend clinic will be closed as the collaboration transitions to smaller, local community vaccination pop-up events.
Anyone 12 and older interested in scheduling a vaccine appointment with Haller’s or at an alternate location closest to them may visit http://myturn.ca.gov or https://bit.ly/AlCoSignUp
