City of Fremont Partners with Magellan Advisors to Develop Broadband Master Plan
FREMONT, Calif. - March 16, 2021 – The City of Fremont has selected Magellan Advisors as its partner in the development of a Broadband Master Plan through a competitive bidding process.
Magellan Advisors will assist the City of Fremont with creating a plan for ensuring robust broadband is available to enable economic development and Smart City initiatives in the years to come. The Broadband Master Plan will develop strategies for the use and deployment of broadband infrastructure for government facilities and commercial and industrial corridors, as well as analyzing options for expanding broadband assets to the City’s residents.
Magellan Advisors will assist in inventorying existing infrastructure, identifying unserved and underserved areas, and developing phased deployment strategies that correspond with planned projects, allowing Fremont to maximize efficiency and cost effectiveness in preparing for future technologies. Additionally, the Broadband Strategic Plan will assess Fremont’s needs for Smart City innovations including intelligent transportation, public safety innovations, telemedicine, autonomous vehicles and other applications.
Magellan Advisors will provide a final Plan that includes financial and business modeling, enabling Fremont to pursue shovel-ready projects for deployment of fiber-optic infrastructure. Together, the City of Fremont and Magellan Advisors will develop a Broadband Strategic Plan that will position the city as a broadband-rich environment to attract, retain and serve businesses and residents. The Project was launched at the end of February and is expected to be completed by the end of 2021.
