CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITY
As part of the 9.1-mile Foothill Gold Line light rail project, KPJV crews are completing the final activities needed to fully rebuild the railroad crossing for the new light rail system on Garey Ave. in the city of Pomona. Due to the recent storms, this work requires a 7-day extension of the ongoing full closure of Garey Ave. at the railroad crossing - through Friday, March 24. Access to the Metrolink Station from Garey Ave. remains unavailable while the street remains closed; see map for alternative access routes.
WHEN
Ongoing thru Friday, March 24th, Garey Ave. will be fully closed to all traffic (vehicular and pedestrian) at the railroad crossing 24 hours a day. Arrow Hwy. (south of the crossing) and Bonita Ave. (north of the crossing) will remain open and accessible by way of detour routes, see map below.
- Daily Work Hours: 6:00 AM – 11:00 PM. Overnight work and Sunday shifts may also be required.
TRAFFIC ADVISORIES
- Garey Ave. will be fully closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic at the railroad crossing north of Arrow Hwy.
- Access to homes and businesses on Garey Ave. within the closure area north and south of the railroad crossing will be maintained at all times, as well as access to the Metrolink Pomona North Station from Arrow Hwy. and Fulton Rd. or Pine St.
PLAN YOUR ROUTE AND BE PREPARED
A detour route (see map below) will be in place during the closure and signage will be posted to direct motorists and pedestrians as well as Metrolink customers. Please follow detour signs.
- Garey Ave. will be fully closed to all traffic at the railroad crossing between Arrow Hwy. and Bonita Ave.
- The access to the Metrolink Pomona North Station from Garey Ave. will be closed during the street closure (access to the station will remain available from Arrow Hwy. and Fulton Rd. or Pine St.)
- Towne Ave. (northbound and southbound) will serve as the main detour route, see details below.
- Arrow Hwy. (eastbound and westbound) will remain open to all traffic.
- Bonita Ave. (eastbound and westbound) will remain open to all traffic.
NOTE TO RESIDENTS / BUSINESS OWNERS
Noise from construction equipment will be produced near the active work zones.
Bus stops may be temporarily relocated, for more information:
