Photo: After more than four months of reconstruction, the Gladstone St. grade crossing in San Dimas is able to be reopened later today.
The Construction Authority is pleased to announce that the railroad crossing at Gladstone St. in San Dimas will be reopening to motorists and pedestrians later today. Crews this week completed the work necessary to reopen the street, including rebuilding the roadway, curbs and gutters on both sides of the crossing. This follows months of hard work and improvements made at the crossing, including the upgrading and relocation or protection of numerous underground utilities; installation of two new light rail tracks and a relocated freight track; and a host of other safety improvements.
Although the street will reopen later today, there is still additional work that will need to take place at the crossing over the coming weeks and months. However, crews were able to complete all of the work necessary to eliminate a second planned extended closure of the street in the future. All future work should only require periodic lane closures.
Thank you to all those that have been impacted by the closure for your patience and understanding.
Have a safe and healthy Thanksgiving holiday.
