Fairfield BUILD: Building, Utilities, Inspections, Land & Development

The City of Fairfield officially launched its new online permitting system, Fairfield BUILD, on Tuesday, April 22. Fairfield BUILD replaces the City’s legacy TRAKiT system and offers a modern platform for submitting applications, scheduling inspections, and tracking development projects all in one place.

With Fairfield BUILD you can now:

  • Submit applications and plans online
  • Pay fees electronically
  • Track project status in real time
  • Schedule inspections through your account

Fairfield BUILD is now required for all permit types including Building, Public Works, and Fire.

Getting Started in Fairfield BUILD

All users, including previous TRAKiT users, must create a new account in Fairfield BUILD. Once registered, City staff will link your previous permit history to your new profile to ensure your records are preserved.

To help you get started check-out the following resources:

All active and historical permits, plans, and project data from TRAKiT have been transferred to the new system. If your records don’t appear right away, staff will assist in linking them to your account.

Inspection Requests

All Building, Fire, Public Works, and Planning inspection requests must now be requested through the online portal, BUILD.

If your permit was issued prior to April 22 and originated in the City’s previous system (TRAKiT), you may not be able to schedule inspections immediately. City staff must review and activate inspections for these legacy permits before requests can be processed.

If you’re unable to request an inspection through your BUILD account, please contact us with your permit number and we will update your records.

  • Call: (707) 428-7451

We appreciate your patience as we work to update existing permit records in the new system.

Planning Services

All Planning entitlement applications must be submitted through Fairfield BUILD. For questions or assistance with the submittal process, contact the Planning Division at planning@fairfield.ca.gov. A City planner is available upon request to coordinate a virtual meeting and provide step-by-step guidance.

Modified Counter Hours Through May

During this transition, the City will continue to have modified counter hours until May 28, 2025 to allow for additional staff training.

  • Planning Counter Closed Mondays from 8 a.m. – 1 p.m.
  • Building Counter Closed Wednesdays from 8 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Full counter hours will resume June 2, 2025.
