Underwater EGGstravaganza April 4, 1:30 - 3 p.m. El Segundo Wiseburn Aquatics Center
Join us for the Underwater Egg Hunt Eggstravaganza, a floating egg hunt where kids can swim to gather a basket of colorful eggs from hundreds in the pool. There will also be candy, music, prizes and of course, the Easter Bunny!
Space is limited, so register online at esrec.org and look under the Special Events tab.
 Egg Hunt EGGstravaganza & Camp Expo April 4, 9 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Recreation Park
Meet the Bunny and join in on all the egg hunt festivities! The Bunny's first appearance for photos will be at 9:30 a.m.
For this year’s event, registration is required, so visit esrec.org and look under the Special Events tab. Wristbands are free with Rec ID or $5 without and can be picked up on the day of the event at our information booth. Walkers and Crawlers do not need a wristband.
Glow in the Dark Egg Hunt April 3, 7 p.m. El Segundo Teen Center
Hunt for glowing eggs, hang out with friends, and enjoy a fun Friday night. This free drop-in event is open to teens ages 12 to 17, no registration needed. For more information, call 310-524-2718 or email dbargmann@elsegundo.org.
Strategic Plan Workshop
April 14, 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. El Segundo Public Library Sue Carter Community Room
During the City Council's Strategic Plan Workshop, they review progress and set direction for the next four-year planning period.
This meeting is open to the public and will be recorded and shared on El Segundo Media's YouTube channels and on the website.
City Council establishes the City’s goals and identifies high-level strategies and priority focus areas that guide City departments in developing detailed implementation plans, programs, and initiatives.

Tiny Tot Reptile Show

Join us for some spring break fun for the little ones with a Reptile Show at the Skate Circle in Recreation Park. This show is free for all to attend, no registration required!

April 18, 10:30 a.m. The 600 block of West Imperial, between Loma Vista and Hillcrest
El Segundo Poet Laureate Kweku Abimbola and Master Gardener Barbara Boland will lead participants on a short walk through Memory Tree Row. Participants will observe nature while learning about the environmental restoration efforts of the El Segundo Blue Butterfly Conservancy group and then complete a poetry writing exercise.
Writing experience is not necessary and this free event is open to all ages. More info here.

Join the largest book club on the West Coast! One Book, One Coast brings together libraries across California, Washington State, and Oregon with all participating libraries reading and discussing They Called Us Enemy by George Takei. Copies are now available at the El Segundo Public Library Reference Desk. El Segundo will have our own discussion on Wednesday, May 20 at 6:30 p.m. and the program will wrap up with an author talk with George Takei on May 31 at 2 p.m. both in person at the East Los Angeles Library and online. April 29, 3 - 3:45 p.m. El Segundo Public Library
Join us for an interactive experience as Hokusai’s Daughter comes to life in this special reading by author and illustrator Sunny Seki.
This will be followed by an engaging koi fish craft activity.
This event is for children ages 5 to 10, and children 8 and under must be accompanied by an adult caregiver.
No registration is required and please be aware that supplies are limited. More info here.

National Library Week is an annual celebration highlighting the valuable role libraries and library professionals play in transforming lives and strengthening our communities.
Celebrate National Library Week this April 19-25, 2026, with the theme “Find Your Joy." Whether you’re coming in for a storytime, participating in a drop-in activity, or signing up for a library card, National Library Week is a great reminder of all of the resources right here in El Segundo.

EDCO's Free Paper Shredding, E-Waste & Compost Event
April 18, 8 - 11 a.m. El Segundo Public Works, 150 Illinois Street
Certified shredding trucks will be on premises so all documents will be shredded onsite! El Segundo residential customers only may bring up to two banker boxes (10” x 12 ” x 15”) per household.
Unwanted electronics will also be collected, including TVs, computer monitors, printers, fax machines, VCRs, DVD players, cell phones, and answering machines. However, household hazardous waste material, including paint, will not be accepted.
Free compost will be available while supplies last. This is self-serve, self-load, and self-haul, so please bring your own cans/bags, gloves, and shovel. There is a limit of 3 cans/bags per vehicle. If you plan to haul your compost in an open truck or trailer, please remember to bring a tarp to cover your material.

A Better Way to Pay Your Water Bill
The City of El Segundo is modernizing systems and upgrading the utility bill payment process while maintaining the features customers currently enjoy.

Watch your mail – Even if you signed up for paperless billing, your next bill will be mailed.

Create a new login – All online users will be required to set up an account in the new system.

Payment methods and autopay – These services will need to be activated in the new system.
More information is coming as the next billing cycle begins, but if you have questions in the meantime, contact 310-524-2319 or h2oinquiries@elsegundo.org.

Environmental Booth During Earth Week
April 23, 3 - 6 p.m. El Segundo Farmers Market, Main Street
Your friendly El Segundo Environmental Committee will be at the Farmers Market during Earth Week to talk all things green as they hope to inspire visitors to support our local endangered species, learn about native plantings, conserve water and energy, choose to reuse, and make other eco-friendly choices. They are co-hosting booths along with the El Segundo Blue Butterfly Conservancy and the South Bay Cities Council of Governments and will be ready to offer advice and inspiration.
Already feeling a need to do more? They recently made a checklist of ways to host your own zero waste event.

South Bay Police vs. Fire Charity Hockey Game April 18, 6 p.m. Toyota Sports Performance Center
The El Segundo Firefighters & Police Officers Associations are hosting a South Bay Police vs. Fire charity hockey game. Bring your family and friends to cheer on our public safety team members and the rest of the South Bay Blueliners! There will be raffles and giveaways and a portion of the proceeds goes to the National Charity League – Beachside Chapter.
Tickets are $25 each. Hope to see you there!
Kiwanis El Segundo PTA Run for Education 5K |10K April 25, 6 a.m. - 12 p.m. 640 Main Street, El Segundo
As a unique USA Track & Field-certified road course in Southern California, the Kiwanis El Segundo PTA Run for Education 5K |10K is an easy-to-moderate hill course loop through local neighborhoods. Proceeds benefit El Segundo Unified Schools. All 5K, 10K, and Kids Fun Run participants receive custom die cast finisher medals.
The large post-race Finish Line Expo is free to the public and offers race participants, spectators, families, friends, and visitors the opportunity to meet a wide range of local professionals and vendors, and government and commercial service providers from the El Segundo community and surrounding area.
