EMERGENCY ALERTS | BE THE FIRST TO KNOW DURING EMERGENCIES
Staying informed is an important part of keeping our community safe. The City of El Segundo uses multiple communication channels to notify residents about emergencies and important public safety information, including direct alerts through Alert SouthBay and updates shared on official social media platforms.

Alert SouthBay
El Segundo is one of fifteen South Bay cities participating in Alert SouthBay, a regional emergency notification system that sends critical alerts from Police, Fire, and Emergency Management during disasters or major incidents. Notifications can be delivered by text message, email, phone call, or landline.

Community participation helps make this system effective. Residents and businesses are encouraged to register and keep their contact information up to date to ensure they receive timely alerts when they matter most.

Your information is secure and will only be used for emergency notifications or the alert categories you choose to receive.

Crime Trends

Personal items left on seat of car

DID YOU KNOW?
Vehicle thefts and break-ins often happen because valuables are left in plain view or cars are unlocked. In February, thefts from motor vehicles increased considerably compared to January.

Reminders:

  • Always lock your vehicle, even at home
  • Remove valuables such as bags, electronics, and loose change
  • Never leave wallets, spare keys, or garage door openers inside
  • Park in well-lit areas and bring deliveries inside promptly
  • Report suspicious activity to police dispatch

A few extra seconds can protect your belongings and help keep your neighborhood safe.

Crime Prevention Awareness

See something, say something

IF YOU SEE SOMETHING, SAY SOMETHING
Your awareness can make a real difference in keeping our community safe. Even if you are unsure whether what you see is suspicious, reporting it could prevent a crime or help someone in need.

Suspicious activity can include any behavior that seems out of place or unusual. Whether you are on your way to work, shopping, or traveling, public safety is everyone’s responsibility. Together, we all play a role in keeping our community safe.

See Something suspicious?
Say Something
by calling
police dispatch and be ready to provide:

  • Where: Location of the activity
  • When: Happening now or when observed
  • What: Description of the behavior
  • Who/Vehicle: Details about people or vehicles involved
