EL SEGUNDO, Calif. — (September 24, 2025) —The City of El Segundo welcomes the three-time WNBA Champion Los Angeles Sparks, who announced today plans to build a world-class training and practice facility in El Segundo. Scheduled to open in 2027, the 55,000-square-foot facility will be purpose-built in partnership with global architecture and design firm Gensler and real estate services partner Transwestern.

El Segundo is set to become the only city in the United States to be home to five professional sports teams: football, hockey, men’s basketball, rugby, and women’s basketball.

“El Segundo is well known for its dynamic and diverse economy, and we’re thrilled that the WNBA’s marquee franchise, the LA Sparks, is building its new state-of-the-art headquarters and training facility here,” shared El Segundo Mayor Chris Pimentel. "This facility will set a new standard in the league, reflecting the Sparks’ commitment to excellence on and off the court and reinforcing El Segundo’s status as a premier destination for professional sports.”

The new home for Sparks basketball is a first-of-its-kind investment in women’s sports, with innovative performance resources and community engagement spaces. Situated in the heart of El Segundo, it will take advantage of the city’s climate and views of the Pacific Ocean and nearby mountains with an outdoor spa space and extensive use of natural light.

“Establishing our new world-class training center and headquarters in El Segundo marks an exciting next chapter for the Sparks,” said Christine Monjer, President of the Los Angeles Sparks. “This state-of-the-art facility will give our players the best resources in professional sports while placing us in the heart of a community that already houses some of the world’s top teams and organizations. El Segundo is the perfect place for the Sparks to build our future, and we look forward to being part of its vibrant sports family."

“I am excited by the Los Angeles Sparks’ decision to build their new headquarters and training facility in Continental Park on the Rosecrans Corridor,” said Continental Development Corporation CEO Richard Lundquist. “In three years, we’ve attracted the Los Angeles Chargers and the Sparks to El Segundo, proving this small city has tremendous appeal. The City of El Segundo’s business-friendly reputation is very beneficial in attracting organizations like the Sparks into town.”
