SoCal Deep Tech Week in El Segundo
EL SEGUNDO, Calif. – (September 23, 2025) – El Segundo took center stage as sponsor and host city for SoCal Deep Tech Week 2025, which took place September 15-19. The week featured thought-provoking conversations among founders, investors, and policymakers and perspectives from leaders shaping aerospace, AI, advanced energy, robotics, and beyond.
Luminaries from Intel, JPL, Space Systems Command, Picogrid, and many more were featured speakers at the symposium. Topics covered included in-depth conversations about the future of energy efficiency, global domain awareness, aerospace and defense, and advanced manufacturing, with an eye on how innovation meets Pentagon requirements. Presenting sponsors included Rockwell Automation, Fenwick & West, HSBC, and the City of El Segundo.
"In El Segundo, startups advancing dual-use technologies don't operate in isolation, they're steps away from primes, investors, a highly skilled talent pool, and the broader supply chain that accelerates commercialization and supports their growth. The collaborations during SoCal Deep Tech Week underscored why El Segundo is the national center where commercial innovation and national security intersect. This rare combination of access and opportunity is why more and more startups are choosing to build their future here," said Mayor Chris Pimentel.
"SoCal Deep Tech Week brings together founders, investors, and leaders from industry, government, and the military who are tackling some of our nation's most pressing challenges from aerospace and defense to advanced manufacturing and next-generation energy. El Segundo offers a natural home for this dialogue. In just 5.5 square miles, El Segundo has become one of America’s most concentrated deep tech and innovation hubs, home to dozens of high-growth startups and over a billion dollars in recent venture investment," shared Jay Velasco, Founder of SoCal Deep Tech Week and Head of Platform, Aero X Ventures. "El Segundo embodies the spirit driving America's technological renaissance with companies like Radiant Nuclear, Castelion, Picogrid, and Cambium USA demonstrating that the future of critical technologies is being designed and built right here in the United States. This is where mission meets innovation.”
