Pine Tree in Library Park Removed for Public Safety
Due to the tree's poor health and continued decay, the Canary Island Pine tree located in Library Park was removed Monday, March 3, 2025.
The tree was examined by professional arborists who provided a report to the City, which can be viewed here. The 95-year-old tree had insect and fugus infestation and possible root disease and unfortunately was unsalvageable.
The removal of the tree was required for public safety. There will be a new tree planted and the City will keep the community informed of the planting ceremony and celebration once it's scheduled. The City is grateful for the many years that the pine tree provided joy for El Segundo residents. Thank you for your support and understanding.
