City of El Segundo Relaxes Fees & Restrictions to Increase Temporary Housing Options to Support Wildfire Victims

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. (January 15, 2025)  - The City of El Segundo issued an order, effective immediately, that temporarily lifts and/or relaxes certain restrictions in the City of El Segundo to help increase temporary housing options for people displaced by the January 2025 wildfires. These include: 

  • Temporary Recreational Vehicle Parking - Permits will be issued with no-fees for recreational vehicles being used to house people displaced by the wildfires for up to 30 days. 
  • No-Fee temporary short-term rental permits to house those displaced by the wildfires for a 90-day period, expiring on April 13, 2025.
  • Temporary Suspension of Transient Occupancy Taxes (TOT) at Extended Stay Hotels - Hotel room taxes at an extended stay hotel (hotel room with kitchen and refrigerator) for displaced persons due to the wildfires will be waived. 

The order also addresses air quality actions including street sweeping/parking citation suspension (through 1/17/25) and temporary prohibition on power air/leaf blowers.
