Air Quality Alert Los Angeles County and South Bay Cities
Air Quality Advisory: January 8, 2025
Due to the ongoing fire incidents in the region, AQMD (Air Quality Management District) is recommending the following precautions for any area that is impacted by smoke, including the City of El Segundo:
- Limit exposure to smoke by keeping doors and windows closed.
- Avoid vigorous physical activity.
- Avoid swamp coolers or fans that filter in outside air.
- Avoid using wood burning appliances or fireplaces.
- If you must be outside, consider wearing respiratory protection.
Air quality conditions may change rapidly based on fire activity and weather. Download the South Coast AQMD app or visit www.aqmd.gov/AQImap for real-time updates.
South Coast AQMD is the regulatory agency responsible for improving and regulating air quality for large areas of Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino counties, including the Coachella Valley.
In addition, updates can be found on the City of El Segundo website at www.elsegundo.org and on the City's social media platforms.
