CPA with Neighborhood Watch Block Captain

NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH | WHAT IS  NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH?

Neighborhood Watch is a crime prevention program where residents cooperate with the El Segundo Police Department to deter crime and make their neighborhoods safer. Neighborhood Watch involves neighbors getting to know each other to develop a program of mutual assistance. Neighbors who recognize and report suspicious activities in their neighborhoods help keep their community safer.

We are always looking for new block captains. To see if your neighborhood has a block captain, view the Neighborhood Watch Map here.

If you would like to be involved, contact Crime Prevention Analyst, Sirena Boskovich at (310) 524-2274 or fill out our Neighborhood Watch Interest Form online.

Featured is CPA Boskovich and members of one of the Watch Groups at the City Hall Pop-Up Series last month.

Crime Trends

Vehicle Alarm

THEFT FROM MOTOR VEHICLE
While theft from a motor vehicle is still one of the highest property crimes, there has been a significant decrease over the last four months!

REMINDER: Please be sure when walking away from your vehicle that it's locked. One of the noticeable trends when the vehicle owner is filing a report is their inability to recall if they locked their vehicle.

Crime Prevention Awareness

2011-2022 KIA AND HYUNDAI OWNERS
As you may already know Kia and Hyundai vehicles over the past few years have increasingly been the vehicle of choice to steal among thieves across the country due to methods of theft promoted on social media. Therefore, do you know if you have the latest theft deterrent device installed on your vehicle?

  • KIA is requesting owners visit customercare.kiausa.com and select Kia Anti-theft. From there you will be prompted to input your 17-digit VIN to receive information on your vehicle’s eligibility for the software upgrade or to have this ignition cylinder protector installed.
  • Kia contact: 1-800-333-4542, Option 2 (Kia Customer Care Services), then Option 1 (Kia Vehicle Theft).
  • Kia continues to provide free steering wheel locks directly to affected owners of vehicles that are not eligible for the software upgrade.
  • HYUNDAI is requesting owners visit hyundaiantitheft.com and select Check Your VIN. From there you will be prompted to enter their 17-digit VIN to validate eligibility for the Anti-Theft Software Upgrade.
  • Hyundai Contact: 1-888-498-0390
  • Hyundai continues to provide free steering wheel locks to affected owners but recommends contacting your Hyundai dealer in advance for vehicle eligibility and availability.

If you purchased or leased a Kia or Hyundai vehicle and it was not equipped with an engine immobilizer, you might benefit from a class action settlement. To learn more about the Kia Theft Settlement visit kiatheftsettlement.com or hyundaitheftsettlement.com for the Hyundai Theft Settlement.
