EL SEGUNDO, CALIF. – (June 14, 2024) - City of El Segundo’s Deputy City Manager Barbara Voss was recognized as a top-five finalist in the prestigious "Executive of the Year" award at the 2024 Los Angeles Business Journal’s (LABJ) Women’s Leadership Awards yesterday. This recognition underscores the excellence and dedication of El Segundo’s leadership team, further solidifying the City’s reputation as a premier place to work and thrive. The awards honored the outstanding achievements of women who make a difference throughout Los Angeles and had more than 330 nominations.

Voss has been instrumental in spearheading award-winning programs for the City of El Segundo’s economic development and communications initiatives. As Deputy City Manager, her role extends to administering City operations across the organization, a testament to her multifaceted leadership and visionary outlook, while further positioning El Segundo as an economic powerhouse in the region, renowned as the city “Where Big Ideas Take Off.” 

“El Segundo is the most important five square miles, economically, in Southern California,” shares El Segundo Mayor Drew Boyles. “Barbara’s recognition reflects the collective achievements of our City’s leadership team. The City of El Segundo is home to 17,000 residents and a vibrant economy that includes leaders in aerospace and defense, bioscience, information technology, energy, real estate, and creative media. The City has seen tremendous growth and evolution over the past several years and is headquarters to the Los Angeles Chargers, Los Angeles Lakers, LA Kings, the Los Angeles Times, and Los Angeles Air Force Base & Space Systems Command, to name a few. In 2022, the City of El Segundo was named “Most Business-Friendly City in LA County” by the Los Angeles County Economic Development Corporation (LAEDC) for the third time.

The 2024 award winners were recognized on June 13 at a lunch in downtown Los Angeles.
