Council Approves Strategic Plan Update
On June 18, 2024, City Council adopted the Strategic Plan update for Fiscal Year 2022-2026. The Strategic Plan establishes the City's vision, mission, values, and goals and undergoes an annual review to monitor progress and adapt to evolving community needs.
Many of those community needs are informed by the feedback provided in the City's annual community survey. Some of the information from that survey that are incorporated into the updated strategic plan are:
- Community planning and land use to encourage growth while preserving the City's small-town charm
- Providing quality infrastructure, such as parking and capital improvement projects
- Comprehensively addressing the unsheltered homeless population
- Business attraction and support

- The City of Los Angeles informed City staff that the new position to head up the planned organizational changes at Hyperion was cut from the budget.
- LASAN is still hiring for Hyperion’s Executive Plant Manager position. The City recently met with the recruitment firm to provide input on the necessary qualification and job description for that position
- AQMD issued one NOV on June 6th for failing to maintain equipment in good operation condition, leading to the digester leak on April 15th.
- The new tank covers for Battery D were installed on June 6th. This means that all of the covers and seals on the primary tanks have been refurbished and/or replaced. It is expected that these tank cover replacements will significantly help mitigate the odors from the plant.
