2024 Summer Concert Series
Counting down the days until we get to rock out to Summer Concerts in the Park! Join us in Library Park on select Sundays in June, July and August. All concerts feature food trucks, so bring an appetite and get ready to get your groove on!
Shows begin at 4:30 p.m. and end at 6:30 p.m. Blankets can be placed in the park after 1:00 p.m. and kids’ crafts and giveaways will be available in the Gazebo starting at 4:00 p.m. before each concert. Chairs are allowed, but no glass containers or plastic tarps, please. All ages are welcome to come and enjoy afternoons of great entertainment!
- Sunday, June 16th – Dan Delgado, covering favorites from big band classics to dance hits
- Sunday, June 30th – The Astro Yachts, yacht rock cover band
- Sunday, July 7th – Upstream, an upbeat Reggae, Soca, and Caribbean band
- Sunday, July 21st – Anthem Road, a high energy 70's, 80's, and 90's tribute band
- August 4th – Cash, Killer, & The King, rock music from Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Johnny Cash

Summer Beach Shuttle Returns June 10th
The Beach Shuttle is back! This summer's shuttle runs Monday - Saturday from 11:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. through August 24th. Ridership is free with a current valid Rec ID. The shuttle runs on a continuous loop with stops in residential El Segundo and takes riders to El Porto Beach.

4th of July Wristbands on Sale Now
El Segundo's Annual 4thof July Celebration is just a few weeks away! Wristbands for the 4th of July evening events at Softball and Stevenson fields are now available at the Clubhouse and Checkout Building in Recreation Park through July 3rd. El Segundo Residents can receive up to four free wristbands per adult with a 2024 Rec ID Card. For questions, call 310-524-2700.

E-Bike Safety Course - Saturday, June 8th
Are you ready to let your son or daughter ride an e-bike? Do they feel ready and knowledgeable of all e-bike safety laws to ride on our roadways?
The El Segundo Police Department has partnered with E-Bike Sense once again to offer a FREE E-Bike Safety Class on Saturday, June 8th from 10:00 a.m - 12:00 p.m. Their certified league cycling instructor will provide information on how to safely ride an e-bike, related laws, and recommended equipment. All you need to bring is your e-bike and a helmet!

Juneteenth Festival - Saturday, June 15th
On Saturday, June 15th join us for Black in Mayberry's Juneteenth Festival at Recreation Park from 12:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. This FREE event will feature live music, captivating performances, interactive arts activities, an art exhibit, a kid's zone, black-owned business vendors, food trucks, and much more.

Eco Gardener Workshop - Drought Tolerant Gardens Saturday, June 22nd
Join us on Saturday, June 22nd from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at the George E. Gordon Clubhouse for a FREE Eco Gardener Workshop. Learn how to successfully design a drought tolerant landscape that can alleviate the high demand on our precious water resources, while saving you money. Topics include developing a palette of climate-appropriate plants with a focus on California natives, applying key design principles, and laying out a successful planting plan.

The El Segundo Public Library is ready for summer!
Join the largest book club in L.A. with the One Book, One County program from June 1 - July 27, 2024, where 18 library districts will read and discuss "L.A. Weather" by María Amparo Escandón.

Council Approves Downtown Specific Plan Update
On May 21, 2024, City Council adopted the new Downtown Specific Plan and the accompanying zone changes and zoning code zmendments. The Specific Plan contains regulations for the future physical development of the Downtown area and is effective June 20, 2024.
The new specific plan establishes a balance of land uses within the downtown area to reach its optimal potential. It also aims to beautify, improve mobility, and enhance downtown streetscapes to further connect it to El Segundo's surrounding neighborhoods - creating a destination for residents and visitors alike. The plan includes an environmental impact report, downtown dining guidelines, and associated application and renewal fees. For more information on the Downtown Specific Plan, click here.

Registration is Open! Summer Recreation Classes, Camps, & Activities
Summer camps and classes are almost here! Summer camps will run from June 10th – August 23rdf. There are lots of camps for all age groups ranging from beach activities to Legos, and filmmaking, to art, and more. Visit the Summer Camps page to view each of the camps, we have something for everyone!
If you’re looking for a class, we’ve got you covered. Many of our summer classes are starting in June and July going through August. We have classes featuring fitness, art, dance, and water fitness. Youth and tot classes include arts, enrichment, sports, and dance. Registration is open to both residents and non-residents on esrec.org. You can also visit us in-person at the Clubhouse or Checkout Building in Recreation Park to register. Construction Activity Around Town
Wastewater Infrastructure Improvements Project construction activities have started and are expected to continue through June 7, 2024. Work hours are Monday-Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Tomovich and Associates, the contractor for this project, delivers notices to affected residents one week before construction and posts "no parking" signs at least 72 hours in advance, where needed. El Segundo Boulevard Improvement Project has experienced some delays and is in the final stages of being completed, with pavement, traffic signals, and landscaping restoration. There will still be lane closures but at least one lane will remain open at all times in all directions. Commuters should expect delays and consider taking alternative routes. Additional improvements include installation of curb ramps and bike lanes, traffic signal modifications, drainage modifications, and landscaping. Funding is provided by Metro.

Hyperion Update
Below are the most recent updates on the situation with the Hyperion Water Reclamation Plant, which is owned and operated by the City of Los Angeles:
- City of L.A. retained a recruiting company to hire a new division head position at Hyperion, and a representative from El Segundo will be one of four people sitting on the hiring panel along with representatives from the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC), Waterkeeper Alliance, and Heal the Bay.
- Hyperion continues the final installment of tank cover replacement for Battery D which is expected to be completed in June of 2024.

FREE Bulky Item Pick Up
Have bulky items you need picked up? It's as simple as calling EDCO! Residential single-family homes and duplexes can get up to four free bulky item pick ups each calendar year. Just call EDCO at least two days prior to your normal weekly collection day at 310-540-2977. On your collection day, place the items at the curb alongside your collection carts by 7:00 a.m.
As a reminder, dumping unwanted bulky items is illegal and can result in fines.

Hilltop Pool is Open!
Summer is almost here, which means it's time to hit the pool! Hilltop Pool is now open from 12:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. on weekends only through June 9th. Hilltop pool will be open every day, starting June 10th through August 25th . El Segundo residents with a valid 2024 Rec ID are free and the cost for non-residents is $7.00 for adults/ $5.00 for youth per day.
